    EUCHRE PLAYERS filled nine tables Wednesday at the Bristow Community Center. Elvis Zehr finished in first place with 92 points, followed by Kenny Weigand with 89 points, John Qualters with 88 points and Lorna Garrett with 87 points.

    Chicken dinners offered Sunday in Leopold, Derby
    LEOPOLD – The Leopold Conservation Club will serve grilled chicken dinners at two locations Sunday, March 30. Dinners will be available in Leopold Park starting at 10 a.m. Dinners will also be served at the Derby firehouse from 11 a.m. to noon.

    VFW breakfast Saturday
    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will host a breakfast buffet from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at the post home. Cost is $6.50 plus tax. The public is invited.

    MU GAMMA CHAPTER OF BETA SIGMA PHI will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday (today) at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City. Hostesses will be Shirley Quick, Judy Roberts and Joyce Laflin.

  • Tell City schools kickball tourney April 6

    TELL CITY – Tell City Junior-Senior High School will host a kickball tournament at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 6 at the Tell City softball fields. The event is sponsored by the Tell City Junior-Senior After Prom Committee and all money raised will be used for after-prom prizes.

    Cost is $40 per team if registered by Wednesday, April 2. Game-day registration will be $50 per team. Teams must have eight players on the roster with no more than 10 total players. Only eight players will be on the field at one time.

  • Special education workshops April 8, May 6

    TELL CITY – The Indiana Resource Center for Families with Special Needs will offer two workshops for those who want for more information about special -education practices.

    Register online. If fewer than three registrations are received, the workshop may be canceled. The program is free and open to the public.
    The workshops will be presented by Leisa Barber, INSOURCE Regional Program specialist.

    An “Article 7 and Discipline” workshop will be held from 5 to 8 p.m.

  • Perry Central to host dodgeball tourney

    LEOPOLD – The Perry Central After-Prom Committee will host its second annual dodgeball tourney and luncheon at 12:30 Sunday, April 6, at the Perry Central High School and elementary gym.

    Concessions, including pizza, walking tacos and desserts, will be available beginning at 11 a.m. in the high-school commons.

    Registration is open to the public. Age divisions will be fourth through sixth grade, seventh through ninth grade and 10th grade and older.
    Entry fee is $5 per person or $30 per team.

    Band Boosters auction May 3
    TELL CITY – Tell City Band Boosters will hold their annual silent and live auctions May 3 in the high school’s Red Apple Inn. The doors will open at 9 a.m. and silent-auction bidding will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A live auction will be held at 11 a.m.

  • Sommer Strong benefit April 12

    TELL CITY – Family and friends of Perry County resident Urban Sommer will hold a benefit in his honor Saturday, April 12 at the Indiana Realty and Auction Co. in Tell City.

    In January, Sommer was diagnosed with stage four, metastasized ocular melanoma of the liver.

    There is no cover charge for this event. Pre-purchased chicken dinners will be available for pickup at 11 a.m. and can also be delivered if requested. Drive-up dinners will be available starting at noon. A cornhole tourney will also start at noon. To enter, contact Carl Sommer at 719-7791.

    PERRY COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AUXILIARY will hold its annual spring membership meeting and appreciation breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Friday, April 4, in the hospital cafeteria. The annual meeting will follow the breakfast and new officers will be installed.

  • Couch to 5K running program starts today

    TELL CITY – A running program called Couch to 5K is set to begin today at Everbody’s Fun and Fitness Center, 710 Fulton Street in Tell City.

    This program is intended to take novice runners and in seven-and-a-half weeks,  slowly work them up to completing the May 11 Mother’s Day 5K Fun Run.
