  • Eagle Watch at Patoka Lake Jan. 9

    PATOKA LAKE – Look for bald eagles in the wild and see one up close with other live birds of prey during Patoka Lake’s 28th annual Eagle Watch, Jan. 9.

    The program runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST, with indoor and outdoor programs at the Patoka Lake Nature Center.

    TELL CITY –  A local cancer support group will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday in Fellowship Hall at the Evangelical United Church of Christ.

    Cancer survivors, cancer patients, family members and caregivers are welcome.

  • Shubael Little hosting annual candlelight tour Dec. 12

    ROCKY POINT – Shubael Little Pioneer Village will hold its annual Candlelight Tour Saturday, Dec. 12. The event will begin at 3 p.m. and will continue through 8 p.m. or until the last guest departs.  This is a chance for those in southern Indiana and neighboring Kentucky friends to experience the Christmas season as it was in the mid to late 1800s.  Guests will be provided with candles or lanterns to aid them in walking from one cabin to another. 

    Old-time music will be provided by the Bob Gibson band and a wandering violinist.

  • St. John’s bazaar Saturday

    EVANSTON – The annual Christmas bazaar at St. John’s Lutheran Church is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    Some of the food items available will be homemade candy, apple dumplings, turnip kraut, turnip slaw, as well as baked goods and springerles.

    Other items that will be available include crafts, quilts and blankets.

    Participants are encouraged to take their own container to purchase special soup, which will be sold by the gallon.

  • Live Glockenspiel coming to weekend Ferdinand Christkindlmarkt

    FERDINAND – A live Glockenspiel, or cuckoo clock, will be showcased at this year’s Ferdinand Christkindlmarkt, this weekend, Nov. 21-22.

    Performances will be held at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. EST both days at the site for the Christkindlmarkt’s free all day live entertainment,  the Forest Park High School Practice Gym Markt location at 1440 Michigan St. in Ferdinand.

    Singing and dancing in a reenactments of a German cuckoo clock are performers decked out in dirndls and lederhosen.

  • Sisters’ musical students to perform Dec. 7

    FERDINAND – Budding musical talents will be showcased as the students of the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand perform their Christmas recital on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. EST in St. Gertrude Hall at Monastery Immaculate Conception.

    Sisters Helen Maurer, Mary Karen Hill and Rose Wildeman teach students piano, guitar, violin, various band instruments and give voice lessons.

    Lessons on other instruments may also be available upon request.

    Essential Oils event Nov. 21

     

    TELL CITY – The Villas at 1101 23rd St. in Tell City will host an Essential Oils Workshop presented by Dinah Harpenau at the Villa Club House, Saturday, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m.

    Each participant will receive a Living magazine and a bottle of Wild Orange essential oil.

    Refreshments will be served and there will be a door prize drawing.

  • Turkey bingo and raffle set for Nov. 22

    CANNELTON – St. Michael Church’s annual turkey bingo and raffle will take place Sunday, Nov. 22, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Cannelton Community Center. The public is welcome. Cards are $2 each. During the bingo game, prizes will be raffled. Refreshements will be available. Participants must be at least 18 years of age to play bingo, according to state law.
