  • Rome Dogwood Festival April 27

    ROME – The Rome Dogwood Festival will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 27, at the old courthouse in Rome.

    Dinners of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, bread, slaw, a homemade dessert and tea or lemonade will be available.

    A concession stand will also serve hamburgers, cheese-burgers, barbecue and sodas.

    The country store will have pies, cakes, bread, cookies and canned goods for sale.

  • Quilt Show opens Saturday at Lincoln Boyhood

    LINCOLN CITY – From Saturday, April 12 to May 11, visitors to the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial will have an opportunity to view quilts on display in the Nancy Hanks Lincoln Hall.

    In the 1800s, when the Lincoln family lived in this area, quilts were often made out of necessity for the sole purpose of keeping warm.

    Sewing and needlework were the basis of a girl’s education and were fundamental skills for being a wife and mother. The legacy and art of quilting was passed down from generation to generation.

    Sommer benefit April 12

    TELL CITY – Family and friends of the late Urban Sommer will hold a benefit in his memory Saturday, April 12, at the Indiana Realty and Auction Co. There is no cover charge for this event. Pre-purchased chicken dinners will be available for pickup at 11 a.m. and can also be delivered if requested. Drive-up dinners will be available starting at noon. A cornhole tourney will also start at noon. To enter, contact Carl Sommer at 719-7791.

    AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY UNIT 213 will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 at the post home in Tell City. President Charlotte Lindauer will preside. All members are encouraged to attend.

    MU GAMMA CHAPTER OF BETA SIGMA PHI will meet at 6 p.m. today at the Evangelical Church of Christ fellowship hall. Hostesses will be Susie Harpenau, Pam Krieg and Mary Hackel.

    THE CLASS OF 1966 GAL PAL LUNCH will be held at noon today at The Patio restaurant in Tell City.

  • 4-H Color Me Green walk-run April 13

    TELL CITY – Walkers and runners interested in healthy living and supporting 4-H are invited to participate in the 4-H Color Me Green Run-Walk at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 13 at Sunset Park in Tell City.
    People of all ages and abilities are welcome to run, walk or roll through the two-mile course.

    The first 50 people who register beginning at 2:30, will receive free T-shirts and sunglasses.

    Relay For Life team to offer chicken dinners April 19
    TELL CITY – The Relay For Life Lifesavers Team will offer chicken dinners at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at the corner of 12th Street and Indiana 37 in Tell City. Cost is $8 and the meal includes half a chicken, creek fries and green beans.

    William Tell Center supper, dance April 25

    TELL CITY – The William Tell Center at 1301 11th St. in Tell City will host a chili supper and dance Friday, April 25, at the center.

    Cannelton High School Class of 1961 members will meet for their monthly luncheon at noon Thursday, April 10, at the Patio. All class members and members of other classes and their friends are invited.

    Tell City Band Boosters auction set for May 3
    TELL CITY – Tell City Band Boosters will hold their annual silent and live auctions May 3 in the high school’s Red Apple Inn. The doors will open at 9 a.m. and silent-auction bidding will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A live auction will be held at 11 a.m.
