  • Humane Society yard sale Friday, Saturday

    TELL CITY – The Humane Society of Perry County will soon accept donations for a yard sale set to take place Friday and Saturday, June 3-4.

    On June 1 and 2, items may be left at the VFW located at 301 Main St., from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, call (812) 836-4842 or (812) 619-0447.

  • Purdue Extension to attend Dazzling Daylily Festival

    OWENSBORO – For its program for the month of June, The Purdue Master Gardeners of Dubois, Perry and Spencer counties will attend the Dazzling Daylilies Festival Walk and Talk Luncheon at the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden in Owensboro, Ky. Tuesday, June 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost to attend is $12 and should be paid in advance.

    The group will carpool from the Extension Office in Chrisney at 9:30 a.m. the morning of the event.

  • Program to explore the fascinating world of insects

    PERRY COUNTY – Purdue Extension-Perry County is sponsoring a hands-on program for youth to learn about insects. This two- day program is open to students who have completed grades 3-12 and will be held June 13-14 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Perry County Fairgrounds.

  • Nature field day June 25 at Tipsaw

    PERRY COUNTY – The 14th annual ‘Adventures with Nature’ field day will be held at Tipsaw Lake, on Saturday, June 25. Perry County Spencer County Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Purdue Extension Perry County and the USDA Forest Service continue to collaborate to make this event possible.

    Activities will get underway at 9 a.m.

  • Lafayette re-enactor to present at The Depot

    TELL CITY – David Best, in person as Marquis de Lafayette, will give a presentation Sunday, June 5, at 1 p.m. at the Tell City Depot.

    Mr. Best as Lafayette will tell of his early years in the Chateau of Chavaniac in the French province of Auvergne, of his father’s death when Lafayette was two, of his mother’s death when he was 12 and of his paternal grandmother who taught him the values of knighthood.

    Cook-York reunion

     

    LEOPOLD – The Cook-York family reunion will be held Sunday, June 12, at St. Augustine’s Parish Hall in Leopold. Dinner will be held at noon and each family is asked to bring a covered dish.

    There will also be an auction. Guests are asked to take treasured items. Dinnerware will be furnished.

  • Jams and jellies workshop set for June 1

    TELL CITY – Learning to make delicious jams and jellies is a simple process, according to a hands-on workshop Purdue Extension will host, titled “Let’s Make Strawberry Jam.”

    The course is intended to help participants learn all the basics of safely preserving those delicious fruits. Scheduled for June 1, at 5:30 p.m., the workshop will be held at the Perry County Extension Office. The cost is $5 per person.

  • Tell City’s JFK Pool set to open June 1

    TELL CITY – The JFK Pool in Tell City will open Wednesday, June 1, at noon for the 2016 summer season.

    Hours for opening day will be noon to 5 p.m. Regular pool hours for the remainder of the season will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. The only exception will be Monday, July 4, when the pool will be open from noon to 5 p.m.
