  • Annual golf tourney set for May 21

    TELL CITY – The annual Charlie Tuggle Memorial Golf Tournament has been scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. May 21 at the Hoosier Heights Country Club in Tell City.

    The three-person scramble will cost $60 per player or $180 per team.

    Golfers can sign up by sending information and payment to P.O. Box 96, Tell City, IN 47586.

    All proceeds from the golf tourney will go to local schools and projects for children.

  • Library summer reading program to kick off June 6

    PERRY COUNTY – The summer reading program at the Perry County Public Library is set to kick off Monday, June 6.

    There are five age categories specifically designed to fit each reading level. They are 0-2 years old, 3-6 years old, grades 1-3, grades 4-6 and grades 7-12. This means the grade the student will be going into the following year, not the grade they just completed.

    There is no registration required, students can stop by the library beginning June 6 at 9 a.m. and pick up the appropriate reading form.

  • Mother-daughter banquet May 2 sure to be ‘groovy’

    TELL CITY – There will be a mother-daughter banquet May 2, at 6 p.m. in Fellowship Hall at Evangelical United Church of Christ.

    “Feelin’ Groovy” is the theme of the banquet this year.

    Sisters in Song will provide the entertainment for the evening with songs from the 1960s and the 70s and everyone will participate in games.

    A dinner will be served. All ladies are invited to attend.

    Family and friends are invited to attend for the evening.

    1720 Club raffle tickets for sale

     

    PERRY COUNTY – Joyce (Goffinet) Greenwood of Tell City is selling tickets to help raise money for the St. Rita School for the Deaf. Her husband, Larney Greenwood, is an alumni of the school. She has tickets for the school’s 1720 Club, a year-long raffle that draws $1,720 in cash prizes on the last business day of each month.

  • ‘Hoosiers & Their Hooch’ exhibit at TC Museum this Dogwood Tour

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Historical Society will be presenting a special exhibition at their museum, located at the corner of Franklin and Ninth streets, during the Dogwood Festival weekend.

    The exhibit is entitled, “Hoosiers and Their Hooch: Perspectives on Prohibition.”

    D of I taking scholarship applications

     

    TELL CITY – The Daughters of Isabella will give two $500 scholarships to graduating seniors from any high school in this area. The applicant must have a mother, grandmother or great-grandmother who is a member of the local circle.

    The scholarship is based on financial need, academics, scholastics and extra curricular activities, including church, civic or community involvement.

  • Area to host 2016 Association of Lincoln Presenters Convention

    The yearlong celebration for Indiana’s Bicentennial, which auspiciously coincides with the Lincoln family’s arrival in Spencer County on the north shores of the Ohio, has marked the county as the site of this year’s Association of Lincoln Presenters Convention. The event will be held from April 14-17 on and around the former stomping grounds of the 16th president himself.

  • Date set for St. Meinrad ROCKS! Fest

    ST. MEINRAD – Inkspot Productions LLC has announced the date for the sixth annual St. Meinrad ROCKS! Fest. The 2016 benefit event will go back to our “indoor roots” for one year only and will be held at the St. Meinrad American Legion, Post #366 on Saturday, Sept. 24.

    This year’s event will feature music by 10 acts, both bands and solo acts, returning favorites and newcomers. Food and dinners, as well as exclusive SMR merchandise, will again be sold. The complete entertainment schedule will be announced at a later date.
