  • Mariah Hill’s annual picnic set for Aug. 14

    MARIAH HILL – The annual Mariah Hill picnic will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 14.
    The day will include fun and games for children and adults, as well as a raffle at 4:30 p.m.
    More than 35 handmade Mariah Hill quilts will be on display and a free shuttle service will be available.
    Hamburgers, ice cream and soft drinks will be served through out the day. Fried-chicken dinners will also be served in the air-conditioned dining hall.

  • Photography contest, show announced

    PERRY COUNTY – The Tell City Regional Arts Association announces a photography show scheduled from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13.
    This event is scheduled during Schweizer Fest and will be held in the second-floor gallery in City Hall in Tell City. This event is for amateurs only. Awards will be given for first- , second- , third-place and People’s Choice at an award ceremony set for at 6 p.m. the same day.

  • William Tell Senior Center to host yard sale Aug. 5, 6

    TELL CITY – The William Tell Senior Center is having a yard sale, Friday, Aug. 5 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 6 from 7 a.m. to noon at the center, 1301 11th St., Tell City.
    Everyone is asked to bring their items clean and priced to be donated for this, on card nights, Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. or on dance nights, Saturdays from 6 to 10 p.m. Baked goods and produce will be appreciated also.
    Sausage, gravy and biscuits, coffee and orange juice will also be available for breakfast until 10 a.m. each day.

  • Library to showcase e-readers Saturday

    TELL CITY – The Tell City-Perry County Public Library will offer two upcoming showcases for individuals interested in seeing what the e-book craze is all about.
    Residents will have a chance to look at several of the major brands of e-readers, including the Nook, iPad, Kindle, Sony Reader and Kobo, and see which one might be for them. The first showcase will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the library. The second will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 17. The library is scheduled to start lending e-books to patrons Aug. 31.
     

  • Reunions, July 21

    TCHS 1971
    TELL CITY – The Tell City High School Class of 1971 will celebrate its 40th class reunion, Friday, Aug. 12 at Bill & Dave’s Smokin Pit in Tell City.
    Cost is $20 per person, checks payable to Tell City Class of 1971, and mailed to Janet Damin, 1402 11th St., Tell City, IN 47586.
    Social hour begins at 6 p.m., class pictures taken at 6:30 p.m. with dinner buffet beginning at 7 p.m.
    All classmates are encouraged to attend. Former teachers and coaches of this class are welcome to come.

  • Back-to-school consignment sale planned

    LEWISPORT, Ky. – In hard economic times, a little help in any form or fashion is a positive. With school set to start just around the corner, buying school supplies and clothing is just an added expense to tight pocketbooks.
    Two moms from Hancock County, Ky., wanted to make the clothing buying not so cringing for parents as well.
