  • Pro wrestling coming to Cannelton March 31

    CANNELTON – An evening of live professional wrestling is planned for Saturday, March 31, at the Cannelton Community Center. Several matches are planned for the evening.

    The main event will feature a steel cage match for the New South Championship with John Irons taking on Damien Wayne. In a women’s match, Stormie Lee will grapple with Rebecca Reece. Other planned matches include Mr. USA vs. Francisco Ciatso; Arrick Andrews vs. Dixie Dynamite; Shawn Hurley vs. Kid Dynamite and the Murphy Boys vs. Doom and Invader.

  • SWCD annual meeting Feb. 27

    CANNELTON – The 70th annual meeting of the Perry County Soil and Water Conservation District will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 27, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Bristow Community Center in Bristow. Dinner is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger.

  • Winter hiking series scheduled

    PERRY COUNTY – Several winter and early spring hikes are planned at various locations in Perry County. The first hike was held Dec. 9 and the next excursion is set for Saturday, Jan. 6.

    This year’s series of hiking experiences, with a new coordinator, Vince Gagliardi, is made possible under a partnership with the Perry County Parks and Recreation Department and the Perry County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

  • Purdue Extension offering training on home-based vendor laws

    TELL CITY – Thinking of selling produce, honey, or home-baked goods at a farmer’s market or from your kitchen? Not sure what laws apply to you? Purdue Extension has answers.

    Amanda Mosiman, Purdue Extension Educator for Agriculture and Natural Resources in Warrick County will speak on Indiana Home-Based Vendor Laws at the Purdue Extension Office in Perry County, located at 65 Park Ave. IN Tell City on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. CST.

  • Beekeeper Workshop Thursday

    LEOPOLD – Purdue Extension and the Perry County Beekeepers are offering a “Getting Started with Bees” workshop on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 6 p.m. in the FFA Building at Perry Central School.

  • Community Events; Feb. 12

    Hunter education course starts Feb. 19

     

    LEOPOLD – Perry Central will host an adult hunter’s education course.  Indiana Conservation Officer Zac Howerton will conduct the course. 

    There will be a total of 6 classes offered to obtain the license. The first will begin on Monday, Feb. 19. The others will be held on Feb. 20, 21, 27, 28 and March 1. The starting time is 6 p.m. in the elementary library and run to 9 p.m.

  • Rescheduled Relay for Life kickoff Feb.12

    PERRY COUNTY – Due to bad weather last month, the kickoff meeting for Perry County’s Relay for Life was postponed until Monday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Perry County will officially get underway as event volunteers and participants gather at Moose Lodge in Tell City for a kickoff rally to launch their fundraising efforts for the year.

  • Uplands Wine Trail to host chocolate lovers’ weekend Saturday, Sunday

    BRISTOW – The Indiana Uplands Wine Trail is enticing chocolate lovers to accompany their sweethearts to the wineries this month for chocolate tastings. The nine wineries that comprise the trail will offer two days of chocolate tastings to celebrate Valentine’s Day the weekend of Feb. 10 and 11. Both chocolate lovers and wine lovers will enjoy over 50 varieties of chocolates and chocolate confections offered at the nine wineries throughout the weekend.

  • Dinner sales to benefit Himi Hinton

    CANNELTON – A pork-chop dinner in honor of Himi Hinton, who has been diagnosed with liver cancer, will take place beginning at 11 a.m. Feb. 17 at the Cannelton Firehouse. Dinners will be $8 each, and include creek fried potatoes, baked beans and a pork chop..

  • Dance for a Cure benefit Saturday

    HANCOCK COUNTY, Ky. – An upcoming Dance for a Cure benefit will help raise money for Tabitha Fentress, who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

    A two-hour calorie-burning dance fitness party is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3,  at Hancock County Middle School, 100 State Route 271 S., Lewisport, Ky.
