  • Chamber hosting legislative update Saturday

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Chamber of Commerce will host a legislative briefing beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 28.

    The presentation will be held at the chamber office, located at 601 Main St., Suite A in Tell City.

    State Sen. Erin Houchin and State Rep. Lloyd Arnold have committed to attend. Legislators will give a summary of the session thus far, thoughts on the continuing session and will open the floor to questions.

    The public is encouraged to attend.

    Horseman’s club to host euchre games Saturday

    TELL CITY – The Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club will host euchre games Saturday, March 21. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and games will begin at 7 p.m. Cost is $5 at the door and 25 cents per euchre game.

    Chili, hotdogs, desserts, coffee, sodas and water will be available.

    No smoking is permitted in the building. All games are open to the public ages 16 and older.

    THE WOMEN’S GUILD OF EUCC will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, March 23, in the fellowship hall. Note the new meeting time. Everyone is invited to attend and refreshments will be served.

     

  • Hoosier Wine Trail kicks off ‘Slam Dunk’ promotion

    PERRY COUNTY – The Hoosier Wine Trail announces a March Madness promotion, “Slam Dunk!” which coincides with the NCAA basketball tourney. Customers who purchase four or more bottles of wine at individual wineries between March 17 and April 6 will receive a free wine glass. Potentially, if you purchase four bottles of wine at each winery on the trail, you will have a complete setting of eight new wine glasses; thus, the “Slam Dunk!”

    TELL CITY – Perry County Professionals will meet at noon Tuesday, March 10, at the Post in Tell City.
    Anyone interested is encouraged to attend for lunch, networking and brainstorming about the group’s future direction.

  • BBBS fun run rescheduled for Saturday, March 28 due to weather

    TELL CITY – Mother Nature rained, or snowed, on our parade.
     The second annual Big Brothers Big Sisters 5k walk and run and kids’ dash, sponsored by EverBody’s Fun and Fitness, has been rescheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 28.
    The race theme this year will be March Madness. All participants are encouraged to dress in their favorite NCAA sport team’s attire.
    Registration is $25. Kids’ dash registration will cost $5. Same-day registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

    MU GAMMA CHAPTER OF BETA SIGMA PHI will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at Evangelical United Church of Christ’s Fellowship Hall. Hostesses will be Joanie Little, Shirley Quick, Kim Zellers and Judy Roberts.

  • Weather-spotter training March 11 in Jasper

    JASPER – The Dubois County Emergency Management Agency, in conjunction with the National Weather Service in Louisville, Ky., will host severe-weather-spotter training Thursday, March 11, at 7 p.m. EDT. The training will be offered on the Vincennes University Jasper Campus, Classroom Building Lecture Hall, 850 College Ave. in Jasper.

    The training is free of charge and is open to anyone across the region including weather spotters, emergency responders and the general public.
