  • Cannelton Heritage Fest Bed Race Oct. 8

    CANNELTON – The Cannelton Heritage Fest Bed Race will take place Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. The entry fee for a team is $25 per team.

  • Cannelton to hold parade Oct. 2

    CANNELTON – The City of Cannelton is preparing a parade in celebration of Indiana’s Bicentennial. The parade is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 2, beginning at 2 p.m.

    Line-up will start at noon. The parade will start at the intersection of Indiana 66 and Old State Hwy 237, continue east to Washington Street, turn right at Washington and run to the floodwall.

  • Fall story time series kick off Sept. 19

    TELL CITY – Perry County Public Library announces Fall Storytime.  Fall Storytime will run Sept. 19 through Oct. 27, with programs at both the Tell City and Cannelton locations. Registration will begin Aug. 15. Register for storytime by calling the Tell City location at (812) 547-2661. Storytime programs are as follows:

    • Mondays from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at Tell City branch for children from birth to 2 years old

    • Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. at Tell City branch for children 3 years old to 6 years old

  • Womens conference coming in October

    FERDINAND – Registration is now open for the Women of the Church national conference, to be held Oct. 7-9, in Ferdinand.

    Responding to Pope Francis’ call for “a more incisive female presence” in the Church, two Indiana Benedictine institutions are co-hosting “Women of the Church: Strength of the Past. Hope for Tomorrow. A Catholic Leadership Conference.”

  • Date set for St. Meinrad ROCKS! Fest

    ST. MEINRAD – Inkspot Productions LLC has announced the date for the sixth annual St. Meinrad ROCKS! Fest. The 2016 benefit event will go back to our “indoor roots” for one year only and will be held at the St. Meinrad American Legion, Post #366 on Saturday, Sept. 24.

    This year’s event will feature music by 10 acts, both bands and solo acts, returning favorites and newcomers. Food and dinners, as well as exclusive SMR merchandise, will again be sold. The complete entertainment schedule will be announced at a later date.

  • Church News; Sept. 15

    Blessing of the Animals event Oct. 2 at EUCC

     

    TELL CITY – The third annual blessing of the animals event will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City. Everyone is invited to take their pets, leashed or otherwise contained, for a blessing. Beverages and snacks, for people and pets, will be provided. The church is located at 802 10th St. in Tell City.

  • Chrisney Fall Fest kicks off today

    CHRISNEY – The Town of Chrisney is set to add another fall festival to the local schedule of events with the inauguration of the first annual Chrisney Fall Fest beginning Thursday (Today) and continuing through Saturday, Sept. 15 to 17, at the town park.

    The new annual tradition builds on the success of Chrisney’s sesquicentennial celebration last year, and event organizers hope to make Chrisney a destination for revelers for many years to come. A schedule of events has been released detailing all the attractions to come.

  • Pet Appreciation Week underway; activities planned through Sept. 18

    TELL CITY – If you’re a proud pet owner or would like to be, mark your calendars for Saturday, Sept. 17 when the Tractor Supply Co. store in Tell City will celebrate your furry friends for Pet Appreciation Week’s Main Event.

    The main event will include pet adoptions with community groups, product samples and giveaways, drawings for gift cards, and other family friendly activities.

    In addition, deals on pet products, from food and treats to toys and crates, will be featured from Sept. 14 to 18.

  • Community Events; Sept. 15

    Horsemen Club Euchre tourney to begin Oct. 8

     

    TELL CITY – Southern Indiana Horsemen Club will begin its winter season euchre tourney Oct. 8.

    Doors will open at 6 p.m., with play beginning at 7 p.m. Cost at the door will be $5, with 60 percent payback. Euchres are 25 cents each.

    Food and refreshments will be available in the kitchen, including chili, Merkley hot dogs, desserts, coffee and sodas.

    The club is located at 9470 Summer Road in Tell City.

  • K of C to sell dinners Saturday

    TELL CITY – Knights of Columbus will serve pulled pork dinners or sandwiches Sept. 10, starting 4 p.m. during Dragging Main.

    Also included in the dinner will be creek fries and coleslaw.
