  • Camp Koch staff reunites to celebrate camp’s 75th anniversary

    CANNELTON – Camp Koch, the beloved Girl Scout camp owned by Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana located near Cannelton, is preparing to celebrate its 75th anniversary this summer.

    In celebration of the milestone, anyone who has served on the staff at Camp Koch is invited to a staff reunion July 14-16 at the camp.   

    Activities may include hiking to camp landmarks, swimming or kayaking in the lake, crafting, campfires and more. Guests are invited to stay for all or part of the weekend.

  • Sycamore Springs intertribal gathering June 17-18

    ENGLISH – From sea to shining sea, people are trekking across the nation as part of the Longest Walk 5.2. Locally, this group will converge in English at Sycamore Springs Park, June 12.

    “This walk is to bring awareness of the drug epidemic that has plagued the Native American Indian Reservations, as well as our great Nation, said regional coordinator Michael Bockting. “This walk is 3,946 miles starting from San Francisco, Calif. on Feb. 12 and ending in Washington D.C. on July 15.”

  • Spencer County Fair underway in Rockport featuring Cincinnati Circus

    ROCKPORT – The Rockport City Park is playing host to this year’s Spencer County Fair through Saturday evening, with many attractions for fairgoers throughout the week.

    Wednesday has already seen the opening of rides, food vendors, a series of pageants and pig corralling, all capped with the debut of the Cincinnati Circus that evening. Many more events are still to come at the city park, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Thursday (today).

    Euchre tourney June 24


    FULDA – The Fulda Sportsman Club will host a euchre tourney at the club in Fulda, on Saturday, June 24.

    Doors will open at 6 p.m. with play beginning at 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at the end of play and refreshments will be available. The public is invited to attend.

  • Cancer survivors and caregivers to be honored at American Cancer Society Relay For Life

    TELL CITY – Local cancer survivors and their caregivers will take the celebratory first lap at the annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Perry County event on Saturday, June 17, at City Hall Park in Tell City.

  • Third annual Jubilant Jog June 10

    SANTA CLAUS – The third annual Jubilant Jog 5K Run/Walk will be held June 10, at Yellig Park in Santa Claus. Registration is set to begin at 7 a.m. The race will start at 8 a.m. The cost is free for those under the age of 6, $20 for 13 and older and $15 for ages 6-12.

    All proceeds will go to Aurora House Helping the Homeless. The event is sponsored by Trinity United Church of Christ in Fulda. A drawing will be held following the race for prizes.

  • Spencer County Relay for Life all-day event Saturday

    SPENCER COUNTY – This year’s Spencer County Relay for Life event, set for Saturday, June 3, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. will be an all-day event.  Activities will be held at Honey Creek Farm.

    Relay is much more than just a walking event, it has activities and events to go along with walking.

    The opening ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. There will be a color guard and a guest speaker, Stanley Arachikavitz. 

  • Best Home Furnishings to host NASCAR driver Joey Gase

    FERDINAND – Best Home Furnishings is hosting “Joey Gase Day” on Tuesday, June 6, at their corporate showroom in Ferdinand.  

    The meet and greet with the NASCAR driver is open to the public and will begin at 6 p.m. and run until 8 p.m. There will be snacks, drinks, games and give-aways. The official Best Home Furnishings show car will be alongside Gase, who will be signing autographs and available for photographs. The Best Home Furnishings furniture showroom will also be open to visitors.

  • Derby River Fest June 17

    DERBY – Derby Association is accepting requests for booth space at the fest on Saturday, June 17.

    Cost is $25 for a 10-foot by 10-foot space and $35 for a 10-foot by 20-foot space.

  • Family Fun Day at Oakwood set for June 8

    TELL CITY – Oakwood Health Campus will hold a Family Fun Day event on Thursday, June 8, from 2 to 4:30 p.m.

    Oakwood has been chosen as the Finish Line for Trilogy’s T200 Bike Run. Riders are expected to cross the finish line at Oakwood at approx. 2:25 p.m. and the staff would like to invite community members to cheer on the riders as they cross the finish line. Several events will take place on the grounds.
