  • Winter Storytime Begins Nov. 14

    PERRY COUNTY – Perry County Public Library announces Winter Storytime. 

    Winter Storytime will run Nov. 14-Dec. 15, with programs at both the Tell City and Cannelton locations.

    Registration will begin on Oct. 17.  Register for Storytime by calling the Tell City location at (812) 547-2661.  Storytime programs are as follows:

    • Monday mornings, 10 to 10:30 a.m. in Tell City,birth through 2 years old

    • Tuesday evenings, 6 to 7 p.m., in Tell City, 3 years through 6 years

  • Thanksgiving meal at EUCC Thursday

    TELL CITY – Each Thanksgiving for the last 25 years or so, Evangelical United Church of Christ has served a traditional dinner at no cost to around 250 people, according to one of the organizers of the event, City Councilman Gary Morton.

    “The church’s goal is to make a difference,” Morton explained.

    Turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, a roll and a slice of pie are included in the meal, which is both served in the fellowship hall of the church and delivered to residents in Tell City, Cannelton and Troy.

    Humane Society free straw giveaway Saturday


    TELL CITY – The Humane Society of Perry County will hold its annual free straw giveaway for dog houses Saturday, Nov. 19, at Orscheln’s 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    Bristow United Pentecostal taking candy orders


    BRISTOW – Bristow United Pentecostal Church is now taking candy orders for Thanksgiving.

    All orders must be in by Friday, Nov. 18, and delivery will be on Monday, Nov. 21.

    Candy available is: plain fudge, fudge with walnuts, peanut butter fudge, peanut butter balls (Buckeyes), and peanut brittle. Fudge and Buckeyes are $7 per pound: they can also be ordered in 1/2 pound sizes. 

  • Cannelton Christmas Parade Nov. 25

    CANNELTON – The Cannelton Christmas Parade held annually by the Cannelton American Legion Unit 142 will be held on Friday, Nov. 25, at 6 p.m. Line-up will begin at 4:30 p.m. and all entries should assemble on Old Indiana 37.

  • Neighborhood Noel will support Crisis Connection

    JASPER – You can’t buy happiness but you can support a great cause, while shopping local ... and that’s kind of the same thing!

    This Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. EDT, some truly generous individuals led by Lori Wigand and Jen Tolbert of Jasper will host Neighborhood Noel at Jasper Engines and Transmissions West, located at 911 Division Road in Jasper.

    St. Meinrad American Legion selling dinners


    ST. MEINRAD – St. Meinrad American Legion will sell barbecue chicken and pork chop dinners Sunday, Nov. 13.

    Dinners will be available beginning at 7 a.m. at the Village Hut in Fulda, at the Legion Home, and at the area churches after their Masses. There will be a euchre tourney at 1 p.m. at the Legion Home followed by the maintenance and repair raffle. There will also be an open house. The public is invited to attend these events.


  • Ceramics exhibit on display at library gallery

    ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery is hosting “Clay It Forward,” an exhibit of ceramics by Alisa Holen and her students.

    Holen, an assistant professor at the University of Southern Indiana, will exhibit her works, along with that of some of her students, from now through Dec. 3.

    Holen earned a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Iowa in 2004. Since then, she has been teaching and showing her work regionally and nationally. She currently has a solo exhibit in the International Gallery of Contemporary Art in Anchorage, AK.

    St. Meinrad breakfast Nov. 6


    ST. MEINRAD – St. Meinrad Community Center will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast Nov. 6, from 7 to 11 a.m.

    The breakfast will cost $8 per person and will include a pancake, sausage, biscuits and gravy, coffee, juice and milk. The cost will be $8 per person.

    Cannelton Trunk or Treat Oct. 29


    CANNELTON – The second annual Cannelton community Trunk or Treat will be held Oct. 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Gazebo Park in Cannelton.

    Guests are invited to come dressed in costume. There will be lots of candy and games for all ages.

    Several local churches and school groups will participate.
