    BIRDSEYE – Registration is now open for the Patoka Lake Triathlon, which will take place at Patoka Lake beach Saturday, Aug. 24.

  • Dale townwide yard sale June 7-8

    DALE – The Dale Women’s Organization invites the public to the 10th annual townwide yard sale in Dale June 7 and 8.
    The deadline to register as a vendor for the event will be Thursday. Vendor registration will benefit the group’s back to school supply program and the Toys for Kids program at Christmas.

    A softball tournament will also be held that day.
    The Dale Women’s Organization is a nonprofit group for the betterment of the children in north Spencer County.

  • PAD, AAA, stroke combination screening May 29, 30 in Jasper

    JASPER – To bring more awareness to cardiovascular diseases, Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center is sponsoring a combination Peripheral Artery Disease, abdominal aortic aneurysm and stroke screening May 29 and May 30 at Memorial Cardiovascular Services, 440 Scott Rolen Drive in Jasper.
    These screenings allow individuals with certain risk factors the opportunity to assess their health status.  The screening takes about an hour to complete and appointments are scheduled between 8 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. A

    SELVIN – Anyone related to Charles Edwin Harper and Mary C. “Molly” Riddle is invited to attend a family reunion at 11 a.m. Saturday at Yellow Banks Center in Selvin.
    The children of Charles and Molly are Bessie Leigh (Harper) Wright, Clarence Edwin Harper, James Silas Harper and Charles Augustus “Gus” Harper.

  • JFK Pool to open to the public June 2

    TELL CITY – The JFK Pool in Tell City will open June 2 for the 2013 summer season. Hours for the pool will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
    Admission is $3 per person for anyone over 4 years of age. Children who are 4 years and younger are admitted for free.
    Pool passes are available at city hall or at the pool. Cost is $40 for a book of 20 passes.

  • Annual Drug, Alcohol Awareness Poster Contest end Friday

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County prosecutor’s office announces the annual poster contest open to all Perry County students in kindergarten through seventh grades begins Wednesday and ends Friday. Letters have been sent to Tell City, Perry Central and Cannelton schools with the official rules to begin the contest. The office staff have asked schools to choose the four best pos-ters from each grade level and submit them to the prosecutor’s office for judging.
