  • Chrisney Sesquicentennial kicks off today

    CHRISNEY – The long awaited 150th birthday for the Spencer County community of Chrisney begins at 5 p.m. today and will carry on through Sunday. All are invited to the Chrisney Town Park, where most events will be held.

  • Mt. Zion’s 35th annual Apple Fest this weekend at Honey Creek Farm

    ROCKPORT – Mt. Zion Church will host the 35th annual Apple Fest at American Electric Power’s Honey Creek Farm Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 10-11.

    Festivities  will start at 8 a.m. and last until 4:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

    The fest will feature live entertainment, arts and crafts from southern Indiana, lots of food and Indiana’s largest apple pie.

    The farm is located at U.S. 231 and County Road 500 N.

  • Relay for Life rally Monday

    TELL CITY – A Relay for Life Rally is planned for 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at the Tell City Moose Lodge. Those attending can learn more about plans for next year’s  Relay for Life.

    There will be games and prizes. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, those attending are encouraged to wear pink to show their support for the fight against breast cancer. The public is invited.

  • Oct. 26 golf scramble will benefit Toys for Tots

    TELL CITY – This year’s golf scramble benefitting Toys for Tots will be held Monday, Oct. 26, at the Hoosier Heights Country Club in Tell City. A shotgun start will begin at noon with three flights. There will be prizes and putting and hole contests. Grilled pork-chop dinners will be donated by the New Boston Tavern and will be served in the country club’s banquet room.

    The tax-deductible entry fee is $60 per person and includes, along with the meal, greens fees, cart, beverages, skins game and gift bag.

  • Veterans Day 5K and 10K planned for Nov. 7

    PERRY COUNTY – On Nov. 7, in honor of Veterans Day, the Perry County Marines along with the Perry County Museum will host the “Semper Five” 5K and the “Marine Tough” 10K. Runners and walkers are encouraged to participate.

    Emmanuel Lutheran soup supper Saturday


    TELL CITY – Emmanuel Lutheran Church, at 12th and Pestalozzi streets in Tell City, invites everyone to its annual soup supper Saturday, Oct. 10. Serving will be in the church’s fellowship hall starting at 4 p.m.

    The church’s “classic soup,” barbecued chicken, creek fried potatoes, green beans, homemade slaw and desserts will be served.

  • Theme is ‘not so scary’ at Halloween Weekends

    SANTA CLAUS – The four holiday-themed sections at Holiday World will present a single theme Saturdays and Sundays starting this weekend, as the park premieres this year’s Happy Halloween Weekends Sept. 26.

  • Miss Heritage Fest Pageant returns to Cannelton Oct. 10

    CANNELTON – The Cannelton Heritage Festival will feature the Miss Heritage Fest Pageant Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Cannelton Community Center. LuLu’s Prom and Bridal will host the second annual pageant starting at 11 a.m.

    Pageant contestants must be a resident of Perry County or have an immediate family member (mother, father, grandparents) that live in Perry County. Age categories include Miss (17-22), Teen (13-16), Pre-Teen (9-12), Little Miss (5-8), and Tiny Miss (2-4).

  • Cannelton American Legion to host Oct. 17 poker run

    CANNELTON – Cannelton American Legion Post 142 will host “Poker Run – Cruizin’ For Our Heroes” Saturday, Oct. 17, beginning and ending at the Legion, located at 516 Knight St. in Cannelton.

    This fundraising event will benefit Evansville Veterans Clinic and The Honor Flight program.

    Stops will include St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366, Ferdinand American Legion Post 124, Santa Claus American Legion Post 242 and Tell City American Legion Post 213. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and cruise out at 11.

  • Tribute bands coming to amphitheater Oct. 24

    LINCOLN CITY – On Saturday, Oct. 24, the Lincoln Amphitheatre will pay tribute to two of  the biggest bands the world has ever known as it features Hard Day’s Night, a Tribute to the Beatles, and Satisfaction, the International Rolling Stones Show. The evening of entertainment is being presented by Indiana Michigan Power, a unit of American Electric Power.
