  • City Hall Park concert Saturday

    PERRY COUNTY – Meal tickets for a farm-to-table dinner that will seat guests on the middle of Tell City’s Main Street are sold out but there will still be plenty to see and do on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 24, including a concert by a leading regional Christian musical group.

  • St. Marks marksmen take aim

    The St. Marks Catholic Church shooting match and picnic will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the church. The ham shoot begins at 10:30 a.m. with a closed match at 2:30 p.m. First choice will be a $600 beef box. There will be chili, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, bratwurst, homemade pies, games for children and adults, bingo, quilts and country-store items. A main raffle will offer more than $6,000 in prizes. The Rev. Dennis Duvelius and parishioners extend an invitation to everyone to attend.

    Tractor group to meet Sept. 22

     

    BRANCHVILLE – The Ohio Valley Tractor Association will hold its next meeting September 22, at 7 p.m. at the Branchville Clubhouse.

     

    VFW serving breakfast Sept. 24

     

    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars 2939 will host a breakfast buffet from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the post home.

    Scrambled eggs will be served or diners can get eggs made to order.

  • Democrats schedule Oct. 1 Jefferson-Jackson Dinner

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Democratic Central Committee will host its Jefferson-Jackson Dinner Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Tell City Knights of Columbus. The event will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7.

    Christina Hale, Democrat candidate for lieutenant governor, will be the keynote speaker. Other speakers will be Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz, Lorenzo Arredondo, candidate for state attorney general, Larry Kleeman, candidate for state representative, District 74 and John Zody, chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party.

  • Local wineries offering free tastings during Jazz, Big Band performance at the Lincoln Amphitheatre

    LINCOLN CITY – The seven southern Indiana wineries that comprise the Hoosier Wine Trail (River City, Indian Creek, Scout Mountain, Blue Heron, Monkey Hollow, Pepper’s Ridge and Mystique Winery) will hold a free wine tasting event beginning at 4:30 p.m. and lasting through the performance of Big Band and jazz classics by the Cool City Band, beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24.

  • Registration open for national Women of the Church conference

    ST. MEINRAD – The deadline to register for the Women of the Church national conference, to be held Oct. 7-9 in Ferdinand, is nearing. Participants must register by Monday, Sept. 26.

  • Celebration of Courage Brunch scheduled for Oct. 1

    JASPER – The cause is extremely important. And a good time is practically guaranteed.

    On Saturday, Oct. 1, Crisis Connection Inc. will host a Celebration of Courage Brunch and Silent Auction at Sultan’s Run in Jasper. Doors open at 9 a.m. CDT. Chef Tim Flick will cater and attendees will enjoy his “fare with flair” would be an understatement. The meal alone is well worth the cost of admission.

    While the issue of domestic and sexual violence is serious, this special morning will be dedicated to fun for brunch goers.

  • Belle of Cincinnati visiting Oct. 23

    TELL CITY – The Belle of Cincinnati will travel downstream in October and will make a stop in Tell City for a busy day of events.

    BB Riverboats sponsors a fall tour each year and the Belle of Cincinnati last stopped in Tell City in 2012.

    The craft will visit the city Sunday, Oct. 23. A brunch cruise is planned for the late morning, with boarding at 11 a.m. The cruise will begin at noon and will end at 2 p.m. A sightseeing cruise will board at 3 p.m. with the 90-minute cruise lasting from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

  • Tractor group to host fun days Oct. 1

    BRANCHVILLE – The Ohio Valley Tractor Association Fun Day will be Oct. 1 at the Branchville Clubhouse.

    Games will start at 1 p.m. Perry Central FFA will provide hamburgers during the day. A club supper will be served at 5 p.m. Guests are encouraged to take a covered dish.
