  • St. Meinrad church groups to volunteer in Belize, seek financial support

    ST. MEINRAD – A group of adults and children from two local Catholic churches plan to travel to Belize this summer to build a home for a family in need. The groups are traveling under the auspices of Hand in Hand Ministries, a non-profit organization headquartered in Louisville, Ky. The organization assists people who face economic challenges in Louisville, Appalachia, Belize and Nicaragua.

    Community Holy Week services planned

     

    TELL CITY – Local churches in Tell City are sponsoring public Holy Week services in Tell City. Today’s Maundy Thursday service will be held at Tell City First United Methodist Church and a Good Friday service will be held at Evangelical United Church of Christ. Everyone is invited to attend as a way to enter into the spirituality of Holy Week.

    TELL CITY – Local churches in Tell City will sponsor public Holy Week services in Tell City, March 30 (today) through Friday. Each service will begin at noon and last half an hour. On Monday of Holy Week, the service will be sponsored by Tell City Church of the Nazarene. Tuesday’s service will be at Community Christian Church; Wednesday, First Baptist Church; Maundy Thursday, Tell City First United Methodist Church and Good Friday at Evangelical United Church of Christ.

    Youth night at First Baptist

     

    CANNELTON – First Baptist Church in Cannelton will host a Youth Refuge Game Night beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at the church at 325 N Fourth Street in Cannelton. Youth in grades three through twelve are invited to attend for pizza, air hockey, ping pong, basketball, other games and a craft. All denominations are welcome.

    TELL CITY – Local churches in Tell City will sponsor public Holy Week services in Tell City, March 30 through April 3.

    Each service will begin at noon and last for half an hour. On Monday of Holy Week, the service will be sponsored by Tell City Church of the Nazarene. Tuesday’s service will be at Community Christian Church, Wednesday, First Baptist church; Maundy Thursday, Tell City First United Methodist Church and Good Friday at Evangelical United Church of Christ.

    Everyone is invited to attend as a way to enter into the spirituality of Holy Week.

  • Ladies Lenten prayer coffee at Cannelton United Methodist Saturday

    PERRY COUNTY – The Ladies Lenten Prayer Coffees are open to all women and girls in the community.

    An offering will be taken at each session to benefit a local charity.

    There will be a light breakfast and program at each session.

    Prayer coffees will be  from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Mar. 21, at Cannelton United Methodist Church with First Baptist Church in Cannelton co-hosting; and Mar. 28, Tell City Evangelical United Church of Christ with Emmanuel Lutheran Church co-hosting.

  • St. Paul Catholic Church hosting Saturday men’s Lenten breakfast

    PERRY COUNTY – The Men’s Lenten Breakfast Fellowship Group of Perry County will gather for a breakfast at 7 a.m. Saturday morning, March 21, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City.

    The breakfasts will continue from 7 to 8 a.m. each Saturday morning throughout the Lenten season. Donations will be accepted to cover the cost of the food.

    The remaining Lenten breakfast schedule will be March 28 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tell City and April 4 at First Baptist Church in Tell City.

    Family fun night at First United

     

    TELL CITY – Tell City First United Methodist men’s ministry Group will host a family fun night Saturday, March 7.

    Live entertainment will start at 6 p.m. The community is invited to this karaoke-with-a-twist. Attendees donate money to nominate someone to sing. The nominee may then either accept the challenge or match the donation. Money raised will help people in the community.

    St. Michael’s fish dinner Friday

    CANNELTON – St. Michael Catholic Church in Cannelton will serve fish dinners the first six Fridays of Lent. There will be no fish dinners served Good Friday, April 3.

    Meals will be served from 4:30 to 7 p.m., and will include fried fish or cheese pizza, with homemade sides of baked beans or macaroni and cheese, slaw, hush puppies, dessert and drinks. The price is $7.50 for adults and $5 for children 6 and younger.
