  • Fall dinner theaters to end

    LEWISPORT, Ky. – Jean Mattingly, director of God’s Players, has announced the 2013 fall dinner theater will be the last one.
    This year’s show will be a nostalgic look at the previous 19 years of entertainment. It is scheduled for Nov. 8, 9 and 10 at the Lewisport Community Center.
    Friday and Saturday nights will have the dinner at 7 p.m., with show time at 8 p.m., and Sunday afternoon’s dinner will be at 12:30 p.m. with the show following.
    Tickets are on sale now for $25 and seating will be according to purchase paid date.

    Deer Creek Fall Fest Sunday
    TELL CITY – Deer Creek Baptist Church in Tell City will host a fall festival beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday.
    There will be fun, food and fellowship for all.
    Former church youth member Brittany Henderson will be at the church Nov. 3 to talk about her experiences from her mission trip to Uganda.
    The church will also celebrate National Day of Prayer Nov. 4.
    Church members still gather for Talk, Pray, Walk sessions at 6 p.m. every Thursday. All are invited to attend.

    St. Paul’s beer, brats, burgers and band event
    TELL CITY – St. Paul Catholic Church will sponsor an outdoor party from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday in the church parking lot.
    The local band Above the Law will perform. The event is open to the public. There is no admission but donations will be accepted to help pay expenses. Beer, soft drinks, water, hamburgers, cheeseburgers,
    Brats and chips will be available for purchase. Attendees must be 21 to enter.

  • Emmanuel Lutheran soup supper Saturday

    TELL CITY – Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 12th and Pestalozzi streets in Tell City, will hold its annual soup supper Saturday.
    Carry out soup will be available at 3 p.m. outside the church. Those buying soup by the gallon are asked to take their own containers but if that is not possible containers will be available. Serving in the dining room will begin at 4:30 p.m.
    Barbecue chicken dinners, crick fried potatoes, slaw, cakes and pies will also be served.
    A bake sale and country store will be set up as well. All are welcome to attend.

  • Benedictine Hills youth pilgrimage planned for Oct. 19 in St. Meinrad

    ST. MEINRAD – The men’s and women’s Benedictine communities of Saint Meinrad Archabbey and Monastery Immaculate Conception are co-sponsoring a youth pilgrimage for Oct. 19.
    The day’s events will begin at noon at the Archabbey Church of Saint Meinrad Archabbey. Following a brief prayer for pilgrims, the group will walk the six miles along country roads to Monastery Immaculate Conception.
    Pilgrims will arrive at the Monastery Church at Ferdinand for Vespers at 5 p.m., followed by a cookout with members of both monastic communities.

    Church hosts weekly Celebrate Recovery gatherings
    TELL CITY – Community Christian Church in Tell City hosts a weekly program titled Celebrate Recovery. Meetings begin each Tuesday at 7 p.m. and are free to attend.

    Evangelist will help celebrate homecoming
    TELL CITY – Tell City Pentecostal Church will welcome Tennessee evangelist Paul Pinnick during a homecoming celebration Friday through Sunday.

  • Monte Cassino pilgrimages to be held in October

    SAINT MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey’s pilgrimages to honor the Blessed Mother at the Monte Cassino Shrine have been scheduled for the Sundays in October.

    The pilgrimages begin with an opening hymn and a short sermon, followed by a rosary procession. The service ends with the Litany of the Blessed Virgin and a hymn. Speakers and topics for the pilgrimages are:
    • Oct. 6 – Brother Luke Waugh OSB, “Mary, Mother of Healing”
     Oct. 13 – The Rev. Barnabas Gillespie OSB, “And Mary Waited Outside”

    Chestnut Grove revival continues through Sunday
    TELL CITY – Chestnut Grove Church will host a revival through Sunday. Services will begin at 7 p.m. each evening, except for Sunday’s, which will begin at 6. The Rev. Ed Young and his wife, Jane, will deliver the message. For more information, call the church’s pastor, Harold Nix, at 547-8101.
