  • First Baptist Church to host Vacation Bible School

    TELL CITY – Tell City First Baptist Church invites children to attend vacation Bible school from June 13-17. The theme this year will be “Cave Quest: Following Jesus, the Light of the World!”

    Here, kids will explore what it means to follow Jesus through dark times.

  • St. John’s Lutheran to serve dinners June 11

    NEW BOSTON – St. John’s Lutheran Church will hold its annual chicken and ham buffet Saturday, June 11, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

    In addition to barbecued and fried chicken and ham, there will be a variety of vegetables including German potato salad and dressing.

    Homemade desserts and freshly baked bread are included with the meal. Take-out dinners are also available.

    The Country Store will have crafts, baked goods, quilts, fresh produce, plants and numerous other items.

  • 62 earn degrees from Saint Meinrad Seminary

    ST. MEINRAD – Graduates of Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology were awarded master’s degrees on May 14. Graduates accepted their diplomas from the Rev. Justin DuVall OSB, archabbot of Saint Meinrad Archabbey and chairman of the school’s Board of Trustees.

    The graduation address was given by the Rev. Thomas J. Rodi, archbishop of the Archdiocese of Mobile.

  • St. Boniface to hold Feast Day event June 11

    FULDA – St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda will hold the annual Celebration of the Feast Day event Saturday, June 11. Mass will be held at 4 p.m. Rib-eye dinners will be served at 5 p.m. at a cost of $15. Live music provided by Eighty Six will begin at 6 p.m.

    There will be a beer garden and a food court, with breaded tenderloins, brauts, cheeseburgers and potato haystacks.

    Proceeds will benefit the ongoing care of Historic St. Boniface.

    This event is sponsored by the St. Boniface Men’s Society.

    Emmanuel Lutheran to hold yard, bake sale

     

    TELL CITY – Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tell City will hold a yard and bake sale Saturday, May 7, from 8 a.m. to noon.

    The sale will take place in the basement of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, located at 12th and Pestalozzi streets.

    Bake sale items include cookies, pies, cakes and some canned goods.

    Knits and Knots meeting May 12

     

    TELL CITY – Would you like to knit or crochet hats and scarves for homeless shelters, veteran hospitals and Head Start children?

    Take your needles or crochet hooks and they’ll supply the yarn.

    The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Tell City First United Methodist Church.

  • Monte Cassino pilgrimages set for Sundays in May

    ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey’s pilgrimages to honor the Blessed Mother at the Monte Cassino Shrine have been scheduled for the Sundays in May.

    Speakers and topics for the pilgrimages are:

    • May 1 – Novice Joshua Leeuw OSB, “Mary, Mirror of Charity”

    •May 8 – Brother Peduru Fonseka OSB, “Mary, Spouse of the Holy Spirit”

    •May 15 – The Rev. Meinrad Brune OSB, “Following Mary: The Marian Way for Everyone”

  • Saint Meinrad monks launch new podcast

    ST. MEINRAD – The monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey have launched a podcast, “Echoes from the Bell Tower.” The podcast’s first season begins with an episode about, logically enough, the bells of the Archabbey Church.

    Stories will share wit and wisdom from Benedictine monastery.

    Hosting the audio talk show are two young monks, Br. Joel Blaize, OSB, and Novice Tony Wolniakowski, OSB. Both are fairly new to the Benedictine monastery, having joined in 2015.
