  • Sisters of St. Benedict Summer Social June 2-3

    FERDINAND  – The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand will hold their 150th anniversary summer social on Friday and Saturday, June 2 and 3, on the grounds of Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand.

    Social hours will be from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. EDT on that Friday and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.

  • Chestnut Grove to host speaker

    TELL CITY – Chestnut Grove Church will host a special speaker from Palestine, W. Va., evangelist singer The Rev. Jerry Cattrell.

    Starting Thursday, May 11, through May 14 each night at 7 p.m. except Sunday night at 6 p.m.

    St. John’s bake sale begins Thursday

     

    EVANSTON – The board of education at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evanston will sponsor the annual spring rummage and bake sale May 4-6. Hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 7 a.m. to noon Saturday. Lots of baked goods, clothes and miscellaneous items will be available.

    Organizers will also be serve soup and sandwiches. The church is located at 12308 E. County Road 1160 N. in Evanston.

     

  • Trinity United rummage sale set for May 19-20

    FULDA – Trinity United Church of Christ at Kratzburg, located one mile south of Fulda on 545 is having a rummage sale Friday, May 19, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, May 20, from 7 a.m. to noon.

    A hot breakfast will be available Saturday, May 20, served by Trinity's Sunday School.

  • Emmanuel rummage sale Saturday

    TELL CITY – Emmanuel Women’s Guild will hold its spring rummage sale Saturday, May 6, beginning at 8 a.m.

    Clothing, crafts and baked and canned items will be available.

    Organizers appreciate the community’s support for their ongoing mission projects.

  • EUCC to host summer concert series

    TELL CITY – A musical showcase series will take place during the summer at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City. Everyone in the community is invited to be involved as both performers and audience. On Wednesday, June 14, the church will invite choral and instrumental groups to perform. These might be church groups or community/school groups.

    On July 12, they will have youth perform by singing or playing instruments. This will include students from middle school through college age.

    Deer Creek concert Saturday

     

    TELL CITY – Deer Creek Baptist Church will host an hour of praise music from Ryan Lynton, a singer-songwriter from Corydon Sunday, April 30, at 10:30 a.m. There will be a fellowship dinner following the service.   • Two ordained deacons at St. Meinrad

    ST. MEINRAD – Two seminarians received the order of deacon from the Most Rev. Charles Thompson, bishop of the Diocese of Evansville, at the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Church Saturday.

    The newly ordained deacons are Jeffrey Dufresne of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and Brother Peduru Fonseka OSB of Saint Meinrad Archabbey. They are students at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology.

    Others in their class will be or have been ordained deacons in their respective dioceses.

  • Monte Cassino pilgrimages scheduled for May

    ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey’s pilgrimages to honor the Blessed Mother at the Monte Cassino Shrine have been scheduled for the Sundays in May.

    The pilgrimages begin with an opening hymn and a short sermon, followed by a rosary procession. The service ends with the Litany of the Blessed Virgin and a hymn. Speakers and topics for the pilgrimages are:

    • May 7, Brother Lorenzo Peñalosa OSB, Our Lady of Perpetual Help

    • May 14, Father Joseph Cox OSB, Mary, Our Mother
