  • New Praise Service at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evanston

    EVANSTON – St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evanston has announced the church will begin a new service open to the community.
    A dedication service will be held Nov. 18 at the church, 12308 E. County Road 1160 N., just west of New Boston off Indiana 545, with a reception to follow. This service is an informal, come-as-you-are praise service to be held at 5:30 p.m. every third Sunday of the month.

  • St. Paul 2012 confirmation class

    St. Paul Catholic Church celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation which was ministered to 22 students on October 14 during 12:30 p.m. Mass by Bishop Gerald Gettelfinger of Evansville, pictured front row on the right. Bishop Gettelfinger also served as celebrant and homilist.

  • Revival Music group to perform Sunday

    Deer Creek Baptist Church will host a Thanksgiving service and meal at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, with special music provided by Revival Music. All are invited. Ordination services and a fellowship meal will be held at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 25.

    St. John to hold annual Christmas bazaar
    NEW BOSTON – St. John’s Lutheran Church, located a half-mile west of New Boston, will host their annual Christmas Bazaar from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1.
    There will be crafts, homemade candy, apple dumplings, baked goods including springerlies, quilts, blankets, turnip slaw, turnip kraut and much more.

  • Ferdinand Benedictine sisters celebrate 60th, 70th jubilees

    FERDINAND – Nine Benedictine sisters celebrated special anniversaries of their religious profession Oct. 28, at Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand. Sisters Mary Alice Schnur, Mary Kenneth Scheessele, Johnette Finis and Sylvia Gehlhausen observed the 70th anniversary of their monastic profession. Sisters Maura Beckman, Vera Kloeck, Mary Benet Goodrum, Mary Roman Dall and Mary Claude Croteau marked their 60th anniversary. These sisters have given a total of 580 years of consecrated life and service to the Church.

  • Benedictine sisters hosting Christkindlmarkt

    FERDINAND – Ferdinand’s Christkindlmarkt, now in its 15th year, will once again include many events at Monastery Immaculate Conception with the Sisters of St. Benedict hosting and playing integral roles. This year the monastery will be the site of the opening ceremonies and dinner, an Advent-Christmas concert, tours, Christmas lights, gifts handmade by the sisters and treats from the monastery bakery.

    Winter schedule for Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal
    TELL CITY – Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church, 402 Ninth St., Tell City, will be on a winter schedule effective Nov. 25 through March 24. Services will be hold at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays and at 2 p.m. Sundays.
    All services are scheduled to return to their normal schedule time March 31. The normal schedule is as follows: 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sundays.
    All services will be canceled Dec. 23 and Dec. 30.

  • Grief workshop at St. Paul Saturday

    TELL CITY – Grieving Our Loss is the title of an upcoming two-hour session to be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church Ministry Center.

    Sister Kathryn Huber, the presenter, will explain ways to neither minimize nor maximize loss, but to see it as a journey and grief as a process.
    Coffee, juice, donuts and rolls will be served.  A donation can be made at the door at dismissal.  
    The public is invited to attend. No advanced registration is required.

  • Fall revival at TC Church of Christ

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Church of Christ and minister Jonathan Adams announce plans for the fall revival Sunday through Nov. 7. The theme is Glorify God.
    Services will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday and the evening services will begin at 6 p.m. There will be a pitch in dinner following the Sunday morning services. The speaker will be Brother John Kesel. Kesel, who’s been married to wife Deborah for 23 years, currently preaches at Ebenezer Church of Christ in Salvisa, Ky., where he has been the minister for almost 12 years.
