  • St. Meinrad town-wide yard sales this weekend

    ST. MEINRAD – The community of St. Meinrad will host is annual town-wide sales Friday, May 2, through Sunday, May 4.
    The Saint Meinrad Archabbey Gift Shop will again have yard sales all days.

    The Relay for Life team will also host a large fundraiser yard sale May 2-3 at the St. Meinrad Parish Annex building, located behind the church off of Brewery Street. Residents  will also have yard and garage sales.

    Food will be available at the St. Meinrad Legion Post 366, as well as at the Archabbey Gift Shop.

  • Seven deacons ordained at Saint Meinrad

    ST. MEINRAD – Seven seminarians studying at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology received the order of deacon Saturday from the Most Rev. Joseph Tobin, archbishop of Indianapolis.

    The newly ordained deacons are Adam Ahern, Michael Keucher and Andrew Syberg, all of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis; Gerard Carrillo and Hiep Nguyen, Diocese of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Brother Philippe Tchalou, OSB, Monastere de l'Incarnation, Togo, West Africa; and Brother Luke Waugh OSB, Saint Meinrad Archabbey.

    Christian ladies evening at DCBC
    TELL CITY – Deer Creek Baptist Church will hold a Christian ladies evening called “Sharing a Cup of Love”  at 6 p.m. Friday, May 9, at the church. All ages are invited to attend for fun and fellowship. Guests should take a carry-in salad, dessert and a coffee cup to exchange.

    Freewill Baptist celebration Saturday, Sunday
    CANNELTON –  Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church will celebrate its 50th anniversary, Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4.

  • Free movie at monastery Friday

    FERDINAND – The next free movie to be shown by the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand will be the extremely touching film Mary and Martha.

    It will be shown on Friday, April 25, at 1:30 p.m. EDT in St. Gertrude Hall at Monastery Immaculate Conception, 802 E. 10th St. in Ferdinand. Popcorn and lemonade will be provided. Participants can stay after the movie for a brief discussion of the film, which is being offered in partnership with the Ferdinand Library. Visitors are also free to walk the monastery grounds and see the monastery church.

  • Community Christian to host Diggles family concert

    TELL CITY – Community Christian Church will host a Diggles family concert Sunday evening, April 27, at 6 p.m.

    The Diggles family, known for their family harmony and unique blend of hymns, Southern Gospel, and light contemporary music, perform across the U.S. and  Canada as a full-time family ministry.

    Christina and Katie sing with their father in three part harmony and Diane interprets the songs through sign language. The members of The Diggles Ministry, are based in Lexington, Ky.

  • Freewill Baptist, gospel quartet unite for 50th anniversary

    CANNELTON –  Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church will celebrate its 50th anniversary, Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4.

    Inspirations Gospel Quartet of Bryson City, N.C., also celebrating 50 years together, will perform their nationally-recognized conservative southern gospel music Saturday at 7 p.m. at the church.

    The weekend will also serve as a “Pearly Gatemen” Reunion. A carry-in basket lunch will be served  following morning the 10 a.m. service. Sunday school will be dismissed.

    TELL CITY – Emmanuel Lutheran Church will hold  a  Maundy Thursday service, April 17 and a Good Friday service April 18. Both services begin at 6:30 p.m.

    TELL CITY – The Tell Street Baptist Church in Tell City holds Bible study every Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church. All are invited to attend.

    St. Michael’s fish fry Friday

    CANNELTON – St. Michael Catholic Church in Cannelton will serve its last fish dinner of Lent Friday. No dinner will be served Good Friday, April 18.
     

  • Concert to feature Stations of the Cross

    ST. MEINRAD – Organist Philip Brisson, accompanied by William P. Bradford II, actor and teacher, will present the Dupré-Claudel “Stations of the Cross” at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 13, in the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Church.

    This interpretation of a traditional Lenten service sets the 14 stations to organ music intermixed with liturgical poetry. The program should last about 90 minutes.
