  • Saint Meinrad monk to offer lecture on priestly spirituality Feb. 7

    ST. MEINRAD – The Institute for Priests and Presbyterates of Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology will present a free lecture on Feb. 7.
    The lecture is titled “Out of Egypt: Reflections on Moses as Leader in the Book of Exodus,” and will give focus to leadership through life’s transitions as a diocesan priest. The speaker will be Fr. Vincent Tobin OSB, of Saint Meinrad Archabbey.
    The lecture begins at 7 p.m. in the Church Leadership Center Theater on the fourth floor of Newman Hall on the Saint Meinrad campus.

    Coats, blankets available to local residents through Catholic Charities
    TELL CITY – Catholic Charities has a large assortment of coats to be given away to anyone who needs one. Coats are available in sizes from toddlers to adults and everything in between. Each person in a family can have one coat. There are also a limited number of blankets available. These are limited to one blanket per family
    There is no charge for any of these items. Call Joan Hess at Catholic Charities at 547-0903 for hours of operation and more information.

  • St. Isidore confirmation

    Confirmation for St. Isidore was held Oct. 10 at St. Meinrad Parish in Saint Meinrad.

  • Public financial peace class to start Jan. 18

    TROY – Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University class will be available beginning Jan. 18. The course will be a 13-week program designed to teach individuals and families how to take control of their finances and become debt free. Every possible spending and saving situation will be addressed in the program.

  • Tell Street Baptist Church welcomes new pastor

    TELL CITY – The members of Tell Street Baptist Church received a new pastor, Sam Huff, for Christmas. James Jackson had been serving as interim pastor for more than a year when the church found Pastor Huff.

    St. Luke’s Episcopal cancels services
    CANNELTON – Effective immediately, there will be no services held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church until further notice. This includes no Christmas services.
    The congregation is very small and can no longer afford to heat the church for weekly Mass.

    Christmas Masses scheduled for county churches
    PERRY COUNTY – Times for Christmas Masses at three county churches have been scheduled for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
    St. Augustine Catholic Church in Leopold will have Mass at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24 and at 10:30 a.m. Christmas Day.
    Holy Cross Catholic Church in St. Croix will start Christmas Eve Mass at 6 p.m. and Christmas Day at 9 a.m.
    Finally, St. Marks Catholic Church in St. Marks will host Mass at 6 p.m. and again at midnight Dec. 24.

    Christmas program Sunday at Bethel Christian
    DOOLITTLE MILLS – The Bethel Christian Church in Doolittle Mills will present its annual Christmas program at 5 p.m. Sunday.
    This year’s play is titled “Why Christmas?” and some poems will be shared as part of the evening activities. Everyone is welcome to attend.
    The Bethel Christian Church has Sunday School each Sunday at 8:30 a.m. followed with church services at 9:30.
    Brother Tom Nixon of Mifflin is the church pastor. Everyone is invited to attend.
