    St. Boniface to host spaghetti dinner Saturday
    FULDA – St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda will host a spaghetti dinner at the church from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
    The parish family of St. Boniface Catholic Church invites neighbors and friends to celebrate Saint Valentine with an evening of good food and live entertainment.
    Spaghetti dinners will cost $8 for adults and $5 for children. Proceeds will benefit the facilities and grounds of historic St. Boniface Church.
    The parish center is located on Highway 545, south of the church.

    FERDINAND – Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand will offer a program, “Sunday Eucharist: Why We Do What We Do,” that will explain the history and meaning of various parts of the Mass.

  • Monk professes solemn vows at Saint Meinrad

    ST. MEINRAD – Brother Francis de Sales Wagner OSB professed solemn vows as a Benedictine monk of Saint Meinrad Archabbey in a ceremony Jan. 25 in the Archabbey Church.

    Wagner is a native of Findlay, Ohio, where he attended Liberty-Benton High School and was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish. He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Bowling Green State University in 1988.

  • Angelus to perform at St. Meinrad Sunday

    ST. MEINRAD – A concert of sacred music by the group Angelus will be performed in the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Church at 3 p.m. Sunday.
    Angelus is a group of six young women from Mount Vernon Senior High School who are dedicated to the performance of sacred music from varied religious traditions and historical periods. They perform music ranging from medieval chant to the American sacred harp tradition and contemporary Irish sacred music.

  • First UMC hosts special Sunday service

    TELL CITY – First United Methodist Church in Tell City is gearing up for Super Bowl Sunday with a special pre-game worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday.

    The service will include a message “God’s Playbook” by Pastor Andy Payton and special music “Drop Kick Me Jesus, Through the Goalposts of Life” by the Chancel Choir.
    Pre-game activities will begin at 4 p.m. with soup, snacks, games and movies for children.

    Pastels on exhibit at Archabbey Library
    ST. MEINRAD – An art exhibit called “Plein-Air Pastels” will be on display at the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery in St. Meinrad from Jan. 15 to March 5.
    The exhibit showcases the plein-air (painting outdoors) works of two Kentucky artists, Jan Frazier of Owensboro and Iris Gentry of Henderson.
    Both artists are adept in a variety of media and enjoy working outside, on location, where the constantly changing light is both an inspiration and a challenge.

    Kidwell to speak at Freewill Baptist
    CANNELTON – The Rev. Jack Kidwell, pastor of Heartland Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, will be the special guest speaker at Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church Sunday, Jan. 30. The day’s activities will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day. Pastor Lewis Garrett and congregation invite the community to attend.

  • Local revival set to start Jan. 30

    TELL CITY – The Church of the Nazarene, 4 Lausanne Court in Tell City on the hill across from McDonald’s, will host preaching and singing Jan. 30 through Feb. 2 at the church’s revival.
    Activities will begin Jan. 30 at 10 a.m. and a service will be held that evening at 7 p.m. Evening services will be held at 7 p.m. each night.
    The special guest speaker will be Minyoung Yoon. Yoon is the pastor of a dynamic church in Kyunggi City, South Korea.

  • Saint Meinrad monk to offer lecture on priestly spirituality Feb. 7

    ST. MEINRAD – The Institute for Priests and Presbyterates of Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology will present a free lecture on Feb. 7.
    The lecture is titled “Out of Egypt: Reflections on Moses as Leader in the Book of Exodus,” and will give focus to leadership through life’s transitions as a diocesan priest. The speaker will be Fr. Vincent Tobin OSB, of Saint Meinrad Archabbey.
    The lecture begins at 7 p.m. in the Church Leadership Center Theater on the fourth floor of Newman Hall on the Saint Meinrad campus.
