    NEW BOSTON – St. John’s Lutheran Church, located a 1/2 mile west of New Boston, will have its chicken and ham supper beginning at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11 at the church. Everyone is welcome to attend.

    Little Pigeon to host gospel sing
    LAMAR – Little Pigeon Baptist Church, off Indiana 245 near Lamar, will host a gospel sing at 7 p.m. Saturday.
    Grace Harmony will be the special guests. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the public is encouraged to attend.

  • Two ordained deacons at Saint Meinrad

    ST. MEINRAD – Two seminarians studying at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology received the order of deacon April 30 from the Rev. Christopher J. Coyne, auxiliary bishop of Indianapolis.

    The newly ordained deacons are Jerry Byrd, Archdiocese of Indianapolis, and Brother Romain Botta OSB, Monastère de l’Incarnation, Togo, West Africa.
    In the Catholic faith, a deacon can preach, baptize, witness marriages, offer Communion to the sick and aged and perform other ministerial duties.

  • Saint Meinrad Seminary, School of Theology award degrees during ceremony

    ST. MEINRAD – Graduates of Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology were awarded master’s degrees May 14. Graduates accepted their diplomas from the Rev. Justin DuVall OSB, archabbot of Saint Meinrad Archabbey and chairman of the school’s board of trustees.

    Spaghetti fundraiser in New Boston Saturday
    NEW BOSTON – St. John Chrysostom Church in New Boston will host an all-you-can-eat spaghetti fundraiser dinner at 5 p.m. Saturday in the parish hall.
    Cost of the meal is $6 for adults and $4 for children 10 years old and younger. The meal will include spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, breadsticks, dessert and a drink.
    All of the proceeds will go toward the cost of sending youth members on a Catholic Heart Workcamp Mission Trip in Toledo, Ohio in June.

  • EUCC to host summer family event in June

    TELL CITY – The Evangelical United Church of Christ, 802 10th St., Tell City, invites the community’s families to a summer family event titled “Egypt: Joseph’s Journey from Prison to Palace” June 20 through June 23.
    Families will step back in time and explore the life of Joseph. Kids and adults can participate in a Bible-time marketplace, sing songs, play teamwork-building games, visit Joseph in prison and his palace home and collect Bible memory makers to remind them of God’s word.

    Exhibit will feature ‘Art on the Hill’
    ST. MEINRAD – A mixed-media art exhibit will be on display at the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery through May 31.
    The free exhibit, “Art on the Hill,” will feature ceramics, paintings and drawings by Saint Meinrad monks and photography by seminarian Jeffrey Estacio. The ceramic pieces are the work of Brother John Mark Falkenhain OSB and Brother Elijah Luckett, OSB. Paintings by the Rev. Harry Hagan OSB, will be on display, along with drawings by Novice Timothy Wymore OSB.
