  • Sisters’ students plan May 15 recital

    FERDINAND – Twenty music students of Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand will present two spring music recitals on May 15 at Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, Indiana.
    The recitals, which are free and open to the public, will be held at 2 p.m. EDT and 7 p.m. EDT in the Assembly Hall at the monastery.
    Students performing at 2 p.m. will be Jessica Bertke, Claire Dooley, Ivy Evans, Katelyn Davis, Madison Fella, Audrey Keepes, Aidan Muth, Sarah Pund, Olivia Schroering, Monica Steckler, and Jenny Weinzapfel.

  • Cannelton church to host annual homecoming May 7, 8

    CANNELTON – Freewill Baptist Church, 117 Second St., Cannelton will have its 43rd annual homecoming weekend, Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8.

    Singing will be the The Epley Family from Mount Pleasant, Iowa and the Pearly Gateman Quartet Reunion.
    Singing will begin Saturday night at 7 p.m. Sunday school will be dismissed and Sunday services will begin at 10 a.m. with The Epley Family and the Pearly Gateman Quartet.
    Following morning worship, there will be a carry-in basket lunch served in the fellowship hall.

    Holy Week, Easter schedule at Archabbey
    ST. MEINRAD – The Holy Week and Easter services for Saint Meinrad Archabbey has been scheduled. The public is invited to join the Benedictine monks for these services in the Archabbey Church. All times are Central.
    Palm Sunday, April 17: 9:15 a.m., Blessing and procession with palms, followed by Mass; 5 p.m., Vespers.
    Holy Thursday, April 21: 5 p.m., Mass of the Lord’s Supper; no Vespers.
    Good Friday, April 22: 3 p.m., Liturgy of the Passion and Death of the Lord.

  • Cannelton Freewill Baptist Easter activities

    CANNELTON – The Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church in Cannelton will host several activities next week leading up to Easter.
    Open communion and feet washing for anyone of the Christian faith will be held Thursday, April 21 at 7 p.m.

  • ‘Grieving Our Loss’ program Saturday

    TELL CITY – A two-hour session has been planed from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday to explain ways to neither minimize nor maximize the loss of a loved one, but to see it as a journey and grief as a process.
    The event, sponsored by Huber Funeral Home and Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, will be held at the Catholic Ministry Center, Room 10, located on Jefferson St., in Tell City.
    Sister Katheryn Huber, OSB will be presenting the program.
    The public is invited to attend and coffee, juice and doughnuts will be served.

    St. Paul mission trip fundraiser
    TELL CITY – St. Paul parish will sell carryout chicken dinner to benefit the St. Paul Church Mission trip for 20 youth and adults.
    The dinners will be sold Sunday on the corner of 12th and Tell streets beginning at 10:30 a.m. The dinner includes grilled chicken, creek fries and green beans for $7. The mission trip participants will help homeless, elderly, children and single mothers experience a better life in Nashville, Tenn.

  • Gospel group to perform at Freewill Baptist Monday

    CANNELTON – The Inspirations, a gospel quartet from Bryson City, N.C. will be ministering in song and testimony at the Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church, 117 Second St., Monday, April 11 at 7 p.m.
    Having traveled more than three million miles, The Inspirations have spread the gospel in song in almost every state in the Union, including Alaska and Hawaii. They have hosted tours to Europe, Bahamas and the Holy Land. They are regulars at the annual Nation Quartet Convention.

    St. Michael to host Lent fish fry
    CANNELTON – St. Michael Catholic Church in Cannelton is serving fish dinners during the six Fridays of Lent.
    There will be no dinners served Good Friday, April 22.
    Meal service begins at 4:30 p.m. and serving lasts until 7 p.m. each Friday.
    The meal includes fried fish or cheese pizza, baked beans, slaw, cornbread, des-sert and drink.
    The price is $7 for adults and $5 for children, 6 years of age and under.

  • Passover presentation set for April 13

    TELL CITY – “Messiah in the Passover,” a vivid and exciting demonstration showing how Jesus fulfilled the ancient feast of Passover, will be performed April 13, at 7 p.m. at Berean Baptist Church at 1309 13th St., Tell City.

  • St. Paul mission week to begin today

    TELL CITY – The Catholic churches of St. Michael in Cannelton, St. Paul in Tell City and St. Pius in Troy will offer a parish mission at St. Paul Church starting today and ending Wednesday.
    Activities each night will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
    Mission Week will be conducted by Archabbot Justin DuVall OSB of St. Meinrad Archabbey. Free child-care services will be available on all evenings in the St. Paul Catholic Ministry Center. For more information, call 547-7994 or 547-7102. The public is invited.
