  • St. Paul 2011 Confirmation class

    St. Paul Catholic Church celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation, which was administered to 19 students, Oct. 16 during the 12:30 p.m. Mass by Bishop Christopher Coyne, pictured in the front row on the right, of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. 

  • EUCC’s month-long homecoming celebration begins Sunday

    TELL CITY – Evangelical United Church of Christ at 10th and Jefferson streets is beginning a month long homecoming celebration Sunday.
    The theme for the Homecoming for the 148-year-old congregation is, “With God’s help, we are rooted in the past, shaping the present and building the future.” Fun, excitement, worship and reminiscing will occur each Sunday.
    A review of history and trivia of the church will be a part of the Oct. 30 service. Nov. 6 will include special music.

    Tell Street Baptist to host concert Sunday
    TELL CITY – Tell Street Baptist Church, located at the corner of Tell and 33rd streets in Tell City, will hold a gospel concert at 11 a.m. Sunday.
    The gospel group Truth Betold will sing during the morning service. Group members are Kenny Roberts, Oliver “Gene” Jones, Alan Berry, Barbara Berry and Jerome Harding.
    A carry-in fellowship meal will follow the event. At 1:30 p.m., the group will perform an extended concert. Everyone is invited to attend.

  • Deer Creek Baptist to host fall fest Sunday

    TELL CITY – Deer Creek Baptist Church will host a Fall Fest at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church.
    Activities for children will include pumpkin decorating, a cupcake walk, face painting, ring toss, bowling, bean bag toss and a bon fire. There will be hot dogs, drinks, chips and desserts available. Everyone is invited to attend the event.
    The church is located on Indiana 37, across from the airport.

  • Gospel Tabernacle to hold revival services in November

    CANNELTON – The Cannelton Gospel Tabernacle Church will hold special revival services Nov. 4,5 and 6 at the church.
    Special guest will be the Rev. James McMikin of Jasper, Ala. McMikin will present a special music ministry as well as teachings and preaching.
    Services will begin at 7 p.m. Nov. 4 and Nov. 5 and at 1 p.m. Nov. 6.

    Grandview UMC homecoming Sunday
    GRANDVIEW – The Grandview United Methodist Church will hold a homecoming service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. All are invited, especially if you have some history with the church.
    Former Pastor Karen Devaisher will be the guest preacher and the service will be highlighted with special music from George and the Country Boys, The Rejoice Singers, Susie Webb and her autoharp and Emma Mundy.

    Fun day at Lilly Dale Church Saturday
    GATCHEL – Lilly Dale Church of Christ in Gatchel will host a free fall fun day Saturday.
    There will be free hot dogs, drinks, chips, cookies and cupcakes, hayrides, barrel train rides, inflatable slides and other fun games.
    Organizers invite anyone to come enjoy the day from noon to 5 p.m. The church is located on Indiana 37, 10 miles north of Tell City. Watch for signs.

  • Concert of Baroque Sacred Music to be held at Ferdinand Monastery Oct. 29

    FERDINAND – A unique ensemble, Heartland Baroque, will perform sacred music from the 17th century at 7:30 p.m. EDT Saturday, Oct. 29 in Monastery Immaculate Conception Church in Ferdinand.

    Members of the Midwest-based group are among the country’s leading specialists in historically informed music of the baroque era. Using period instruments, they will perform compositions for violin, harpsichord, and soprano.

    Mass at St. Joe’s Cemetery
    BRISTOW – The Rev. Guy Mansini OSB will hold an outdoor mass at St. Joe’s Cemetery at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, weather permitting.
    In case of rain, there will be the usual mass at 6 p.m. at St. Isidore Catholic Church.

  • St. Isidore shooting match Oct. 16

    BRISTOW – The annual St. Isidore Catholic Church shooting match has been set for Oct. 16 at the church in Bristow.
    The ham and turkey shoot will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The closed match will be beef and pork with first choice 1/2 beef. Entrance to the closed match is at 2:30 p.m.
    Lunch will be served beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the menu will include homemade chili, hamburgers, homemade pie, coffee, soft drinks and bottled water.
    There will also be a country store, cake stand, splatter boards, pull tabs, children’s games and bingo.
