    Co-ed softball league starting in Perry County
    PERRY COUNTY – A co-ed softball church league will start the first Sunday in Sept. Anyone wishing to play on a team must be 16 years or older and each team must have at least three girl players.
    Umpires are also needed for the league. All organizations and churches are welcome to have a team participate. Cost is $200 per team.

    Trinity UCC ice cream social Aug. 28
    FULDA – Trinity United Church of Christ in Fulda will host its annual ice cream social from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28.
    Sloppy Joes, chips and a variety of desserts will be served along with homemade ice cream.

  • Betts named pastor of Church of Nazarene

    TELL CITY – The Rev. Marlin Betts was born into a parsonage family in Manistique, Mich. He spent most of his childhood in Michigan with his two brothers and one sister.

  • St. Boniface picnic to kick off Aug. 7

    FULDA – St. Boniface Catholic Church will hold its annual church picnic Aug. 7 at the church grounds in Fulda.
    Chicken and beef dinners with all the trimmings and dessert will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the air-conditioned dining hall. Carry outs will also be available.
    A grand raffle will be held at 5 p.m., along with a special quilt drawing for two beautiful handmade quilts. A country kitchen will be open throughout the day, serving homemade goodies including breads, rolls, muffins, coffee cakes, noodles, snacks, salsas, jellies, jams and more.

  • Leopold church picnic Sunday

    LEOPOLD – St. Augustine’s Catholic Church will have its annual picnic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the church.
    Mass is set for 10:30 a.m. and parking will be available for the handicapped. There will be quilts, a quilt raffle, silent auction, country store, bingo, ice cream, games for young and old, baked goods and a grand raffle of 60 prizes totaling $2,750.
    Family style chicken dinners will be served in the air-conditioned dining room. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children. Carry-outs will be available.

    Vacation Bible school continues at Nazarene church
    TELL CITY – Church of the Nazarene at 17 Lausanne Court, will continue their annual vacation Bible school today and Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
    This year’s theme will be Hometown Nazareth-Jesus as a kid for ages 3 through fifth grade.

    St. John Chrysostom picnic Sunday
    NEW BOSTON – St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church in New Boston will host its annual summer picnic Sunday.
    Serving of fried chicken and roast beef dinners will begin at 10 .a.m. The parish’s “famous soup” will be sold by the bowl and gallon, with burgers, funnel cakes and other food items.
    There will be kids games, a bouncy house, bingo, country store, quilts, raffle and more. The public is invited to spend the day in fun and fellowship.

  • Church of Nazarene to welcome new pastor

    TELL CITY – Church of Nazarene will be having an installation service to welcome their new pastor, Marlin Betts and his wife, Debbie, Sunday, July 24 at 10:30 a.m.
    There will be a reception following the service. The public is invited to attend this event.

    Gospel Tabernacle church camp July 24
    CANNELTON – The Cannelton Gospel Tabernacle Church will host its 39th annual Victory Valley Church Camp from July 24 through July 29.
    The camp is for children ages 12 to 18.

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Church of the Nazarene, 17 Lausanne Court, will host a gospel sing featuring Berdena Carpenter at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
    The community is invited to attend.
