  • EUCC Music Showcase July 12

    TELL CITY – Evangelical United Church of Christ will present its second Summer Musical Showcase at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 12.DUring the event, EUCC will host a collection of local youth and young adult talent in the church sanctuary.  A few of the featured performers will be Luke Hilgenhold, Garrett Jarboe and Abby and Alex Lawalin.

    The Showcase is free but the community will have the opportunity to donate to the Weekend Backpack food program while attending.

  • GC3 to return for second year

    TELL CITY – GC3 will be held Friday and Saturday, July 28-29, at Community Christian Church in Tell City beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday through 9 a.m. Saturday. This will be the event’s second year in Tell City.

    The event offers an evening full of fun including food, games, the contemporary Christian band, Building Nations, guest speakers, a T-shirt and a CD.

    This year’s conference is called “Priceless.”  The event is free to all girls who will be going into grades 6 to 12.

    LEOPOLD – St. Augustine’s Catholic Church will have its annual picnic Sunday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. There will be handicapped-accessible parking.

  • Fr. Martin Peter jubilee Saturday in Columbus

    COLUMBUS – Fr. Martin Peter, better known as Father Marty and a native of Tell City, is celebrating his Golden Jubilee as a priest. He was ordained at St. Meinrad Archabbey on May 7, 1967 and celebrated his first Mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Tell City. He is the son of Lawrence J. Peter and Dorothy Fournier Peter.

    Small churches have come under attack recently. The reasons for those attacks are many. Perhaps some are valid. It’s not my intention to promote or argue those points in this article. As the pastor of a small church, which averages 65 in weekly attendance, I see many benefits of a small congregation.

  • Ecumenical VBS June 26-29

    TELL CITY – Evangelical United Church of Christ, Tell City United Methodist Church and St. Paul Catholic Church have scheduled a cooperative vacation Bible school for the week of June 26-29. Four-, 5- and 6-year- olds who have completed kindergarten will attend VBS at the United Methodist Church on 10th and Mozart streets from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. while those students who have completed Grades 1-4 will attend at St. Paul Catholic Church on Main and Jefferson streets from 9 to 11:30 a.m. with crafts, games, and snack centers stationed at EUCC during mid mornings.
