  • Cannelton Freewill Baptist to host homecoming services May 5, 6

    CANNELTON – The 44th annual homecoming weekend at the Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church will be observed May 5 and 6.

    Saturday night singing May 5 will begin at 7 p.m. with the Pearly Gatemen reunion and Steve Epley Family.
    Sunday school May 6 will be dismissed and morning service will begin at 10 a.m. A carry-in basket lunch will follow the morning worship. Afternoon singing will begin at 1:30 p.m. Sunday evening service will begin at 7 p.m.
    Pastor Lewis Garrett and congregation invite and welcome the community to attend the event.

  • EUCC establishes prayer, memorial garden

    TELL CITY – The Garden at the Evangelical United Church of Christ will be a resting place for church members or their immediate family.

    The purpose of the garden is to provide space for the scattering of the ashes of cremulation – ashes that have been reduced to no more than 1/8 inch – and a place where people may pause in reverent meditation. It will be a place to honor the lives of those who have departed, organizers said.

  • Local church celebrates 45 years

    Senior Pastor Nellie Hempfling and Pastor Dea Goad, along with members of the Cannelton Gospel Tabernacle Church, celebrated the church’s 45th anniversary at the current church location and 54 years as a church assembly Easter Sunday.

    Little Pigeon Baptist to host gospel sing
    LAMAR – Little Pigeon Baptist Church, located two-tenths of a mile east of Highway 231 on 1250 N., will hold a gospel sing Saturday.
    Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. and singing will begin at 7.
    Guest singers will be Deborah Seaton, Ben Moorelock and Gayla Leibring.
    All are welcome to attend.

  • CCC rummage, bake sale

    TELL CITY – Community Christian Church will host a rummage and bake sale from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 20 and from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 21.
    The April 21 sale will feature half-price items and a bag sale. The sales will occur both days rain or shine. Items will include children, men and women’s clothing and shoes, a large area rug, home decor, toys, furniture and all kind of miscellaneous items, as well as many baked items.

  • EUCC’s mother-daughter banquet set for May 7

    TELL CITY – Evangelical United Church of Christ will host its annual mother-daughter banquet at 6 p.m. May 7 in fellowship hall.
    This will be a “Nacho Average” banquet with an exciting Mexican fiesta theme, organizers said. Seating is limited and tickets will be sold in advance.
    Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the church office, located at 802 10th Street. Tickets will also be available before or after worship each Sunday in April in the Narthex.

  • Gospel Tabernacle to host ministerial convention

    CANNELTON – The Gospel Tabernacle Church in Cannelton will host its 28th annual ministerial convention Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Activities will begin at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 10 a.m. Sunday.
    Lunch will be served after the Sunday service in the church’s fellowship hall. There will be no Sunday evening service.
    Guest speakers and special music will be presented.
    All are welcome to join the congregation and the Revs. Nellie Hempfling and Dea Goad. The church is located on the corner of Girl Scout Road and Savannah Road in Cannelton.

    Men’s annual Lenten breakfasts end Saturday
    PERRY COUNTY — The Men’s Lenten Breakfast Fellowship Group of Perry County will end its 43rd annual Lenten breakfast series Saturday at Tell City United Methodist Church. The breakfast will be held from 7 to 8 a.m. Donations are $3.
    For more information call Bill Simpson at 547-8906 or Randy Lautner at 547-8982. This is a Christian men’s project. These annual breakfasts started in 1976 and are for all men and boys. Members of all dominations and churches are welcome.

    Rome UMC to host song fest Sunday
    ROME – Rome United Methodist Church will host a songfest started at 5 p.m. Sunday at the church.
    The gospel group, Truth Be Told, will perform, followed by a covered-dish supper. Meat and drinks will be provided and those attending are asked to take their favorite covered dish.
    A love offering will be taken for the group. All are welcomed to attend.
