    St. John Chrysostom summer picnic July 22
    NEW BOSTON – St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church in New Boston will host their annual summer picnic July 22 at the church.
    Meals will include fried chicken and roast beef dinners, which will be served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the air-conditioned Father Heck Hall. “Famous” New Boston Soup by the bowl or gallon will also be available.

    St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda held its first communion April 28.

    Bethel Christian VBS dates
    DOOLITTLE MILLS – The Bethel Christian Church in Doolittle Mills will have vacation Bible school from 6 to 8 p.m. July 16 through July 20.
    The theme is “Adventures On Promise Island.” Children of all ages including teens are welcome to attend during the week.

  • St. Augustine church picnic set for July 29

    LEOPOLD – St. Augustine Catholic Church will hold its annual picnic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 29. Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m.
    Parking will be available for the handicapped. The event will feature quilts, a quilt raffle, a silent auction, yard sale, country store, bingo, ice cream, games for young and old, a cornhole tourney, baked goods and a grand raffle of 60 prizes totaling $2,600.
    Family-style chicken dinners will be served in the air-conditioned dining room. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children. Carry-outs will be available.

  • Gnanaraj to lead local parishes

    PERRY COUNTY – The Rev. Sengole Thomas Gnanaraj (na-na-raaj) will arrive in Perry County in July to guide the parishes of St. Michael and St. Pius Catholic churches.
    Born in Karuthapillaiyur, India, Gnanaraj regularly attended mass and other church activities at St. Anthony Catholic Church in his village.

    He became the sacristan for six months at the church when he was in the 10th grade and said his mother was a great motivator and encouraged him to be involved in parish ministry.

    VBS at Hawesville Church of Christ starts Sunday
    HAWESVILLE, Ky. – Children to seniors and everyone in between are invited to a free vacation Bible school at the Hawesville Church of Christ, 2535 Highway 60 West.
    The event will be at 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday at the church. For more information, contact new minister George Jensen at (270) 927-9701.

  • St. Paul, First UMC vacation Bible School starts June 25

    TELL CITY – First United Methodist Church, Tenth and Mozart streets, and St. Paul Catholic Church, Jefferson and Main streets, together invite children ages 4 through students who have completed the fourth grade to vacation Bible school June 25 through June 28.
    Children ages 4 to 5 and kindergartners who have just completed kindergarten will attend Bible school from 9:15 to 11:15 A.M. at the Methodist Church. First through fourth grades will attend at St. Paul Church from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

    Little Pigeon to host gospel sing Saturday
    LAMAR – Little Pigeon Baptist Church, located two-tenths of a mile east of Highway 231 on 1250 N., will host a gospel sing Saturday.
    Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. and the singing will begin at 7. Guest singers will be Harvest Gold.
    All are welcome to attend.
