  • St. Paul mission week to begin today

    TELL CITY – The Catholic churches of St. Michael in Cannelton, St. Paul in Tell City and St. Pius in Troy will offer a parish mission at St. Paul Church starting today and ending Wednesday.
    Activities each night will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
    Mission Week will be conducted by Archabbot Justin DuVall OSB of St. Meinrad Archabbey. Free child-care services will be available on all evenings in the St. Paul Catholic Ministry Center. For more information, call 547-7994 or 547-7102. The public is invited.

    Deer Creek to host events Saturday, Sunday
    TELL CITY – The community is invited to attend the upcoming Fused-Youth Event to be held at Deer Creek Baptist Church in Tell City. The revival is geared toward youth with a message that is for everybody, regardless of age.
    There will be music, DVDs, drama, skits and testimonies, all culminating in a message that will motivate youth to consider a relationship with God.

  • Local Lent dinners

    April 1 fish fry at St. Meinrad K of C
    ST. MEINRAD – There will be a fish fry at the St. Meinrad Knights of Columbus April 1 sponsored by the youth and young adults of the Catholic parishes of St. Boniface in Fulda and St. Meinrad.
    Proceeds will support a service trip to Michigan and a National Catholic Youth Conference gathering in Indianapolis.
    Serving begins at 5:30 p.m. and continues until 7:30. Cost is $8, which includes two fish filets, creek fires, slaw, bread and a dessert.

  • Men’s Lenten breakfasts slated to begin Saturday

    PERRY COUNTY – The Men’s Lenten Breakfast Fellowship Group of Perry County has finalized plans for its annual Lenten breakfasts. Cannelton United Church of Christ will host the first breakfast Saturday. The breakfasts will continue each Saturday morning throughout the Lenten season from 7 to 8 a.m. Donations are $3.

    St. Michael to host Lent fish frys
    CANNELTON – St. Michael Catholic Church in Cannelton will serve fish dinners during the six Fridays of Lent. There will be no dinners served Good Friday, April 22.
    Meals will begin Friday, March 11 at 4:30 p.m. and serving will last until 7 p.m. each Friday.
    The meal will include fried fish or cheese pizza, baked beans, slaw, cornbread, dessert and drink.
    The price is $7 for adults and $5 for children, six years of age and under.

    PERRY COUNTY — The Men’s Lenten Breakfast Fellowship Group of Perry County has finalized plans for its annual Lenten breakfasts. Cannelton United Church of Christ will host the first breakfast Saturday, March 12.
    The breakfasts will continue each Saturday morning throughout the Lenten season from 7 to 8 a.m. Donations are $3.

    Revival meeting set to begin Sunday
    CANNELTON – Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church will host a revival meeting “Bringing God, Country and Family Together” beginning Sunday, Feb. 27 at the church, 117 Second St., Cannelton.
    Bro. Joe Adams will be the special guest speaker each night of the revival at 7 p.m. Adams and his wife, Saundra, are a part of Missionary Team to America. Adams was chaplain to the Kentucky state government for more than 28 years.

    Union Baptist to host chili supper, auction
    HAWESVILLE, Ky. – Union Baptist Church, 5770 State Route 1389, will hold a chili supper and auction at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26.
    Cost for the supper is $5 for adults and children 11 years old and older, $2 for children in kindergarten to 10 years of age and children up to preschool age eat for free. The menu will consist of homemade chili, soups, sandwiches and desserts.
