    Final Monte Cassino pilgrimage Sunday
    ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey’s pilgrimages to honor the Blessed Mother at the Monte Cassino Shrine will conclude Sunday.
    The pilgrimages begin with an opening hymn and a short sermon, followed by a rosary procession.
    The service ends with the Lit-any of the Blessed Virgin and a hymn. The final speaker and topic Sunday will be Brother Anushka Fonseka OSB, “Mary: A Perfect Response to God’s Invitation.”

    St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City honored graduating seniors during the 11:30 a.m. Mass May 13.

    Little Pigeon to host gospel sing
    LAMAR – Little Pigeon Baptist Church, located two-tenths of a mile east of Highway 231 on 1250 N., will host a gospel sing May 26.
    Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. and the singing will begin at 7. Guest singers will be Grace Harmony.
    All are welcome to attend.

  • Farewell party to honor the Rev. Barnabas Gillespie

    TELL CITY – A farewell party will be given in honor of the Rev. Barnabas Gillespie, OSB, who will retire from parish ministry and return to St. Meinrad Archabbey.
    The gathering will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. May 20 at the Knights of Columbus Hal, 11th and Tell streets in Tell City.
    Gillespie’s parishioners, confreres, family and friends from other parishes in the Deanery and from other faith traditions are welcome to attend.

    Monte Cassino pilgrimages continue
    ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey’s pilgrimages to honor the Blessed Mother at the Monte Cassino Shrine have been scheduled for the Sundays in May.
    The pilgrimages begin with an opening hymn and a short sermon, followed by a rosary procession.
    The service ends with the Litany of the Blessed Virgin and a hymn. Speakers and topics for the pilgrimages are:
    Sunday – The Rev. Harry Hagan OSB, “Madonna and Child: Imagining the Mother of God”

    Cannelton Freewill Baptist homecoming services Saturday, Sunday
    CANNELTON – The 44th annual homecoming weekend at the Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church will be observed Saturday and Sunday.
    Saturday night singing Saturday will begin at 7 p.m. with the Pearly Gatemen reunion and Steve Epley Family.
    Sunday school Sunday will be dismissed and morning service will begin at 10 a.m. A carry-in basket lunch will follow the morning worship. Afternoon singing will begin at 1:30 p.m. Sunday evening service will begin at 7 p.m.

  • First communion at St. John Chrysostom

    Four young members of St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church in New Boston made their first communion April 14 during 4:30 p.m. Mass.

  • Archabbey honors co-workers for service

    SAINT MEINRAD – During its 24th annual Service Recognition Banquet April 19, Saint Meinrad Archabbey honored 74 active co-workers and 53 retirees who have 25 years or more of service.

    Saint Meinrad business manager the Rev. Adrian Burke OSB addressed those attending the banquet.

    Cannelton Seventh Street Baptist to host special services
    CANNELTON – Seventh Street Baptist Church in Cannelton will hold special services at 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday. Brother Al Entzel will be a guest speaker at both services. A meal and preaching service will follow the Sunday service. Brother Harold Draper and the congregation welcome all to attend.
