  • First Church of Nazarene to host VBS

    TELL CITY – This year, the Tell City First Church of Nazarene will host Rocky Point Lighthouse vacation Bible school.
    This year’s theme will be “Where Kids Shine God’s Light.” At Rockport Point Lighthouse VBS, children will learn to shine God’s light.
    This vacation Bible school will be filled with incredible Bible-learning experiences kids see, hear and touch. Team building games, cool Bible songs and active Bible adventures are just a few of the activities that help faith flow into real life.

  • Victory Valley camp to start Sunday in Cannelton

    CANNELTON – The Cannelton Gospel Tabernacle Church will host the 40th year of Victory Valley Church camp Sunday through July 26 in Cannelton Heights for children ages 12-18.
    The church invites the youth of the area to a week of fun and learning in a Christian atmosphere. It is a full week – five days and nights – of inspiration to motivate teens to dedicate their lives to the Jesus Christ and his teachings.
    The aim of the camp is to help build character and strength in the youth.

  • Emmanuel Lutheran Church VBS

    Emmanuel Lutheran Church held its annual vacation Bible school in June. Forty-two children attended the Amazing Desert Journey VBS.

    The group heard five different Bible stories, made crafts and sang songs. The week ended with a closing program Friday evening.

    St. John’s Lutheran VBS starts Sunday
    EVANSTON – St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evanston will sponsor “Amazing Desert Journey,” a vacation Bible school program set to start Sunday and run through July 26. Activities will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. each evening. A meal will also be provided at 5 p.m.
    On the “Amazing Desert Journey,” children ages 3 to 12 years old will learn about Jesus our Savior, meet new friends, complete fun activities, sing great songs, make crafts, play games, eat snacks and more.

  • Bible trivia night at Tell City United Methodist

    TELL CITY – The Tell City United Methodist Church will host its first Bible Trivia Night Aug. 4.
    Teams with a maximum of eight players will enjoy a meal at 5 p.m. before competing in eight rounds of eight questions to see who has more Bible knowledge and can be crowned Bible trivia champions.

  • St. Augustine church picnic set for July 29

    LEOPOLD – St. Augustine Catholic Church will hold its annual picnic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 29. Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m.
    Parking will be available for the handicapped. The event will feature quilts, a quilt raffle, silent auction, yard sale, country store, bingo, ice cream, games for young and old, a cornhole tourney, baked goods and a grand raffle of 60 prizes totaling $2,600.
    Family-style chicken dinners will be served in the air-conditioned dining room. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children. Carry-outs will be available.

    St. Paul Catholic Church’s mission trip 2012 traveled to St. Louis, Mo., in July for a week of helping those in need.

    Lilly Dale revival begins Sunday
    TELL CITY – A revival will be held at Lilly Dale Church of Christ July 15 through July 18.
    Guest speaker will be Brother Sam Marsh, who was preacher at Lilly Dale in the 1980s and 90s. Marsh and his wife, Joan, live in Cynthiana, Ky. They have 2 sons, Ben and Adam, and a daughter Ginna.
    The public is invited to join the congregation for Sunday school at 9 a.m. and Sunday worship at 10 a.m.
