  • Kozar named Distinguished Alumnus

    ST. MEINRAD – The Rev. John Kozar, a priest of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, Pa., was honored Aug. 1 with the Distinguished Alumnus Award, at the annual Saint Meinrad Alumni Reunion. He graduated from Saint Meinrad College in 1967.

    The award, given by the Saint Meinrad Alumni Association, was begun in 1990 to honor alumni who exemplify the Gospel values and have provided exemplary service in their lives or professions. The association’s board of directors reviews nominations for the award annually and makes the recommendations.

    BE Ministry trip meeting Aug. 21

     

    PERRY COUNTY – BE Ministry and Educational Opportunities Tours will be taking a trip to the Holy Land through Jordan in October 2018.

    They will have an informational meeting Aug. 21, at Tell City First United Methodist church at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.

    VBS to kick off Sunday

     

    EVANSTON – Vacation Bible school at St. John’s Lutheran Church will be held Sunday through Thursday, July 23-27, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The program is for children ages 3-12 years old. A meal will be provided at 5 p.m. each night.

  • Lilly Dale revival events to begin July 30

    GATCHEL – The Lilly Dale Church of Christ will be holding a revival meet from Sunday July 30 through Wednesday Aug. 2. Our speaker will be Brother David 

    Johnson from Sellersburg. Brother Johnson will be speaking on the 

    following subjects:

    • Sunday 10 a.m. “I Tell You A Mystery” 1 Cor. 15: 51-54

    • Sunday 7 p.m. “Ask, Seek, Knock” Matthew 7: 7-11

    • Monday 7 p.m. “Joyful in Hope” Romans 8: 22-25

  • Organists to perform free concert Sunday

    ST. MEINRAD – Four organists will present a free concert on Sunday, July 23, at 3 p.m. at Saint Meinrad Archabbey Church.

    Organists presenting the program are Raymond Henderson, director of music at Our Lady of Hope in Carle Place, N.Y.; the Rev. Edward Wagner, pastor and cantor at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Chesley, Ontario; Michael David of Evanston, Ill., and George Hubbard, organist at Saint Meinrad Archabbey.

  • Victory Valley Church Camp set to begin July 23

    CANNELTON – The Cannelton Gospel Tabernacle at 5251 Girl Scout Road, is announcing its 45th year of Victory Valley Church Camp. It is a week long event open to teens 12 to 18 years old. Registration is from 2 to 4 p.m. on July 23, and begins that evening through July 28.

    The theme this year is “Our future runs through our Past”.

    Evening services are open to the public and revolve around honoring those who have worked and built the camp over the past 45 years of existence.

  • Mass location changes while shrine undergoes restoration

    ST. MEINRAD – The regular Saturday morning Mass held at Monte Cassino Shrine, Saint Meinrad Archabbey’s chapel to honor the Blessed Mother, has been moved to a new location while the shrine undergoes some restoration.

    The shrine remains open to the public from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    Beginning July 15, Mass will be held at the usual 7 a.m. in the Guest House Chapel, located on the grounds of Saint Meinrad Archabbey.

    Knits and Knots today

     

    TELL CITY – Would you like to knit or crochet hats and scarves for homeless shelters, veteran hospitals and Head Start children? Take needles or crochet hooks and they’ll supply the yarn.

    The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 13, at Tell City First United Methodist Church.

    TELL CITY – Tell City First Church of the Nazarene will host a weekend vacation Bible school, “Egypt – Joseph’s Journey from prison to palace,” from Friday, July 21, through Sunday, July 23, at 17 Lausanne Ct. in Tell City.
