    Miles 4 Missions 5k-10k fundraiser set for Sept. 19


    TELL CITY – WOW-SIS, the women’s ministry of the Tell City United Methodist Church, will hold the third annual Miles 4 Missions 5K-10K Run-Walk at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19.

    Cost is $20 per person, $10 for children ages 10-15 or $50 for a family of three or more.

    Registration forms are available at the church office, online at tellcityumc.org,  EverBody’s or New Directions.

  • Praise jamboree Saturday

    CANNELTON – Gospel Tabernacle Church will host the second annual Song and Praise Jamboree at the church’s outdoor pavilion located at 5425 Girl Scout Road, Cannelton, on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 2 to 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be served during intermission. Everyone is welcome to attend.

  • St. Pius fall festival Sunday

    TROY – St. Pius Catholic Church in Troy will hold its annual fall festival Sunday, Sept. 13.

    On the menu is the “famous soup” by the bowl and gallon, fried-chicken and roast-beef dinners, hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream and homemade pie.

    Entertainment will be provided by the Crosswinds Band and there will be a giant yard sale, games for adults and children and a raffle. Serving will begin at 11 a.m.

    Those wanting to purchase bulk soup should take their own container.

  • First United supports local food pantries, requests canned goods

    TELL CITY – During the last Food Pantry Sunday at Tell City First United Methodist Church, the community donated 154 cans of tuna for local food panties.

    During the months of September, October and November, the church will build a wall of can goods in its main hallway for local food pantries.

    In September and October, yellow and orange cans will be collected and in November red and brown cans will be collected.

  • Preaching lecture, workshop set at Saint Meinrad

    ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology will present the 25th annual John S. and Virginia Marten Lecture and Workshop in Homiletics Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 6-7, on the Saint Meinrad campus.

    This year’s lecturer is Lori Carrell, vice chancellor of the University of Minnesota, Rochester. The topic of the evening presentation is “Does Preaching Matter? A Communication Perspective.”

    The lecture will be held in St. Bede Theater from 7 until 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

    New exhibit opens in archabbey library


    ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery is hosting an exhibit of works on paper titled “Close to Home.”

    Three artists from the New Harmony area will be exhibiting their work in the gallery.

    Friends for years, they create art that is very different, not only in the choice of medium but in how they see and interpret the world around them.

    FULDA – The Trinity United Church of Christ, one mile south of Fulda, will have an ice cream social and homecoming from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30.

    There will be a light dinner, homemade ice cream and live music.
