  • No fear in a return to worship

    I have a good friend who recently told me a story that I had to pass on to you guys.

    My friend is now a devout Christian, but it wasn’t always so. At age 18, he quit going to church and he didn’t go back until his early 50s.

    During his absence, he did some things that he wouldn’t want printed on the front page of this renowned tabloid. Haven’t we all?

  • Three join seminary’s Board of Overseers

    ST. MEINRAD – The Board of Overseers welcomes a new member, a returning member and an emeritus member to the advisory board for Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology.

    The board advises President-Rector Fr. Denis Robinson OSB on matters related to the school’s programs and performance and addresses strategic questions related to the future of the school. Each member serves a three-year term.

     Joining the board are Fr. Gary Kastl, Mary Schaffner and Charles Gardner.

    CCC banana split party Wednesday

     

    TELL CITY – Community Christian Church in Tell City will host its annual 50-foot banana split gathering Sept. 6. The event will kick off at 6:30 p.m. in the church at 821 10th St.

    Everyone is invited to join in this time of family fellowship.

  • Icon painting workshop set for October

    ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey will offer an icon painting workshop Oct. 8-13,  on the Archabbey grounds in St. Meinrad. Leading the workshop will be Passionist Brother Michael Moran.

    For many years, people from a variety of spiritual traditions have found themselves drawn to the mysterious and prayerful images found in the icons of Eastern Christianity.

    PERRY COUNTY – BE Ministry and Educational Opportunities Tours will take a trip to the Holy Land through Jordan in October 2018.

    There will be an informational meeting Aug. 21, at Tell City First United Methodist church at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.

  • Novice joins Benedictine community at Saint Meinrad

    ST. MEINRAD – In a brief ceremony, Novice Noel Zamora was clothed in the Benedictine habit at Saint Meinrad Archabbey on Aug. 5. He now begins a year of monastic formation, including study of the Rule of St. Benedict and monastic history. 

    Novice Noel, 40, most recently served as a priest of the Diocese of Lexington, Ky.

  • Kozar named Distinguished Alumnus

    ST. MEINRAD – The Rev. John Kozar, a priest of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, Pa., was honored Aug. 1 with the Distinguished Alumnus Award, at the annual Saint Meinrad Alumni Reunion. He graduated from Saint Meinrad College in 1967.

    The award, given by the Saint Meinrad Alumni Association, was begun in 1990 to honor alumni who exemplify the Gospel values and have provided exemplary service in their lives or professions. The association’s board of directors reviews nominations for the award annually and makes the recommendations.
