    Homecoming at Trinity Pentecostal in Tell City
    TELL CITY – Tell City Trinity Pentecostal Church will host its homecoming Sunday at the church on 15th Street in Tell City.
    Services will begin at 10 a.m. and everyone is welcome to attend.
    Due to the homecoming celebration, services will be postponed at Our Father’s House Sunday. Sunday services will resume there at 9 a.m. Oct. 9.

    Holy Cross to host annual flea market Sunday
    ST. CROIX – The Holy Cross Catholic Church in St. Croix will host its annual huge flea market from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17.
    The market will include antiques, collectibles, books, clothing, household items, baby furniture, crafts and more.
    Produce, baked goods and homemade jellies will also be sold and the annual huge raffle will be held.

  • Mount Zion Christian Church to hold 176th homecoming Sunday

    SANTA CLAUS – Mount Zion Christian Church of Santa Claus will hold its annual homecoming Sunday at the church.
    The guest speaker for the morning service will be Brother Delbert Gray. Gray and his wife, Kaye, reside in Memphis. He is a graduate of Louisville Bible College and holds a bachelor’s degree in ministry and completed his master’s degree at LBC.

  • EUCC bazaar set for Oct. 1

    TELL CITY – The annual Evangelical United Church of Christ bazaar will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 in fellowship hall.
    The bazaar will be an old fashion breakfast with homemade biscuits and sausage gravy, German fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, toast, sausage patties, coffee and orange juice available.
    There will also be a country store featuring homemade baked items, candy, canned fruit and vegetables, relish, jellies, pickles and craft items.
    The public is invited to attend.

  • Pastor returns to city after 28 years

    TELL CITY – Ben Rake and his wife of 46 years, Linda, began serving Tell City Community Christian Church, 821 10th St., Tell City Aug. 21. The Rakes recently moved from Winchester, Ky., where they had served Forest Grove Christian Church for 10 years and earlier, Belmont Church of Christ for 17 years. In 1982 and 1983, the Rakes had served at Tell City Church of Christ.

  • Annual St. Pius fall fest Sunday

    TROY – St. Pius Catholic Church in Troy will have its annual fall festival Sunday, Sept. 11.
    On the menu is the parish’s “famous soup” by the bowl and gallon, fried-chicken or roast-beef dinners, hamburgers, polish sausage, ice cream and homemade pie.
    Entertainment will include a live band, a giant yard sale and flea market, games for adults and children and a raffle. 
    Serving begins at 11 a.m. Take your own container for carry-out soup.

    LAMAR – Little Pigeon Baptist Church, off Indiana 245 near Lamar, will host a gospel sing at 7 p.m. Saturday.
    River City Quartet will be the special guests. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

  • Full day of activities planned for First Saturday devotions at God’s Country

    BRISTOW – St. Joseph’s Holy Family Inc., an apostolate for the renewal of Catholic family life within the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, has announced First Saturday Devotions for Saturday at God’s Country LLC, 25992 Cottonwood Road in Perry County.
    The Rev. Dominic Petan, a fourth-year theology seminarian of the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana, will continue the series of presentations by seminarians on Pope John Paul II’s Encyclical Letter Mother of the Redeemer.

  • Sisters of St. Benedict welcome new member

    FERDINAND – The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand have accepted Beth Fritsch of Cincinnati, Ohio, into the postulancy, the first stage of incorporation into the religious community. She entered the community in a simple ceremony Aug. 21.

    Postulant Beth is the daughter of the late Joseph Fritsch and Mary Arlene Fritsch. She has two older brothers and one younger sister. She earned three degrees from Xavier University in Cincinnati, a bachelor of arts in theology, a master of education and a master of business administration.
