  • Bethel Baptist sets dates for Christmas celebrations

    TELL CITY – Bethel Baptist Church, 911 Fulton in Tell City, is inviting the public to a “Country Christmas in The City” celebration of Christmas music and entertainment Friday and Sunday beginning at 7 p.m. both nights.
    According to program coordinator Lesa Ammon, all types of Christmas music will be performed by members of the church, along with a few other entertaining skits.
    Also, Bethel’s children’s Christmas program will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 18. The program will be “The 12 Symbols of Christmas.” The public is invited.

  • Santa Claus United Methodist announces Christmas schedule

    SANTA CLAUS – Santa Claus United Methodist Church, located on Indiana 245 in Santa Claus, has announced its schedule of Christmas-season services.
    The first event will be “The Mystery of the Manger,” a special Christmas children and youth choir program set for 3 p.m. Sunday. The church’s Cherub and Next Generation choirs will share the evidence surrounding Jesus’ birth as it is described in scripture.

  • Fourteen seminarians declare candidacy at Saint Meinrad

    ST. MEINRAD – Fourteen seminarians studying at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology were accepted as candidates for the priesthood Nov. 6 by the Rev. Timothy Doherty, bishop of the Diocese of Lafayette.

    Little Pigeon to host gospel sing Saturday
    LAMAR – Little Pigeon Baptist Church, off Indiana 245 near Lamar, will host a gospel sing at 7 p.m.Saturday.
    The Woodsman Quartet will be the special guests.
    Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

    Agape day chili supper Friday after parade
    CANNELTON – Agape Community Church, 101 Taylor St., Cannelton, will host a free chili supper for the community following the Cannelton Christmas parade Friday.
    Grilled hot dogs, hot chocolate, coffee and treats will be offered along with the soup.

    Agape day of celebration, Thanksgiving Sunday
    CANNELTON – Agape Community Church, 101 Taylor St., Cannelton, will host a day of celebration and Thanksgiving Sunday.
    A special invitation is extended to former members of the church.
    A video presentation, special music and a fellowship meal followed by a mortgage burning ceremony are planned for the day.

    St. Paul pancake, sausage breakfast Sunday
    TELL CITY – St. Paul Catholic Church will host a pancake and sausage breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at St. Paul’s parish hall. All are welcome to attend.

  • Annual Thanksgiving gospel concert Nov. 19 in Tell City

    TELL CITY – First Christian Church in Troy will again this year offer a gospel concert, “A Gospel Thanksgiving in Song,” from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at Tell City High School.
    Doors to the auditorium will open at 1:30. The concert is offered by the church at no cost, though a freewill offering will be collected.

    St. Paul fish fry set for Friday
    TELL CITY – The St. Paul parish will host an all-you-can-eat fish fry form 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 at the parish hall.
    The menus will include fish, chips, macaroni and cheese, dessert and drink.
    Cost is $7 adult and $5 child for children. Everyone is invited to attend.
    Proceeds will benefit a mission trip to St. Louis in 2012.

  • St. Paul Catholic Church to host grief workshop Saturday

    TELL CITY – St. Paul Catholic Church will host a grief workshop, Exploring the Well of Grief, from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Catholic Ministry Center on the corner of Main and Jefferson streets.
    This workshop will be lead by Sister Kathryn Huber OSB, a member of the Sisters of St. Benedict in Ferdinand.
    She will explore the themes of death and loss even as people struggle through their own grieving experiences.
