  • Sisters of St. Benedict offer 3-DVD spiritual guidebook

    FERDINAND – The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand have produced a three-DVD set and guidebook, “A Transformed Life,” intended to help viewers discover the meaning and purpose of their lives.
    In six 45-minute conferences, Sister Maria Tasto OSB, guides viewers along the path of becoming who God created them to be. Using the lens of Scripture and inspired by the work of the Rev. Thomas Keating, Sister Maria shares what she has gleaned from years of walking with others on the spiritual journey and from her own path.

    United Pentecostal Christmas play Friday
    BRISTOW – The United Pentecostal Church will present a Christmas play, “Christmas Around the World,” at 6 p.m. Friday at the church.

  • First United Methodist Church sets plans for Christmas celebrations

    TELL CITY – The First United Methodist Church of Tell City will celebrate Christmas with a variety of services beginning Sunday as the Chancel Choir presents their Christmas Cantata during the 9 a.m. worship service.
    The celebration will continue with a traditional Christmas Eve Service, at 7 p.m. Dec. 24 with a Christmas message by Pastor Andy Payton, Communion and Candlelight.
    Christmas morning, Dec. 25, the church will host a Christmas Carol Service at 10:00 a.m.

  • Sisters of St. Benedict plans Christmas liturgies

    FERDINAND – The Sisters of St. Benedict invite the public to join them for Christmas celebrations.
    Christmas Eve services at Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand will be held Saturday, Dec. 24, at 10 p.m. Carol service precedes the Mass, beginning at 9:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served in the monastery dining room immediately after Mass. Christmas morning mass on Dec. 25 will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in the monastery church.

    Freewill Baptist Christmas program Sunday
    CANNELTON – Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church, 117 S. Second St., in Cannelton, will hold its Christmas program at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
    “The Gifts” and “The Birth of Jesus Christ” will be presented by church members. Everyone is invited to attend.

  • Crèches on display at Archabbey Library through out December

    ST. MEINRAD – An exhibit of Christmas crèches from around the world will be on display in the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Dec. 8 through Jan. 9.

    The display features crèches from the monastery collection, as well as from the Catherine A. Smith Nativity Collection, which was donated to Saint Meinrad in 2002 in memory of Charles Patrick (“Pat”) Smith.

  • Adams joins Tell City Church of Christ family as intern minister

    TELL CITY – The elders at Tell City Church of Christ announce the recent hiring of Jon Adams as an intern minister.
    He has been filling the pulpit for most of 2011 and he and Mariah, his wife, have participated with the church’s vacation Bible school, Woodland Bible Camp and youth retreats. As an intern minister, the church elders want to involve him in the rotation of teaching Bible classes and Wednesday prayer service, and assisting in spreading the gospel in the community.

  • Bethel Baptist sets dates for Christmas celebrations

    TELL CITY – Bethel Baptist Church, 911 Fulton in Tell City, is inviting the public to a “Country Christmas in The City” celebration of Christmas music and entertainment Friday and Sunday beginning at 7 p.m. both nights.
    According to program coordinator Lesa Ammon, all types of Christmas music will be performed by members of the church, along with a few other entertaining skits.
    Also, Bethel’s children’s Christmas program will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 18. The program will be “The 12 Symbols of Christmas.” The public is invited.

  • Santa Claus United Methodist announces Christmas schedule

    SANTA CLAUS – Santa Claus United Methodist Church, located on Indiana 245 in Santa Claus, has announced its schedule of Christmas-season services.
    The first event will be “The Mystery of the Manger,” a special Christmas children and youth choir program set for 3 p.m. Sunday. The church’s Cherub and Next Generation choirs will share the evidence surrounding Jesus’ birth as it is described in scripture.
