  • New treasurer-business manager at Saint Meinrad

    ST. MEINRAD – Lisa L. Castlebury of Eugene, Ore., has been named the new treasurer and business manager at Saint Meinrad Archabbey.
    She succeeds Matt Eckert, who left in January to become president and chief executive officer of Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari in Santa Claus.
    As treasurer and business manager, Castlebury will be responsible for the financial and business affairs of Saint Meinrad, as well as overseeing human resources and physical facilities.

    Ministerial convention begins Friday
    CANNELTON – The Gospel Tabernacle Church in Cannelton will host its 46th annual ministerial convention Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
    The Friday and Saturday night service will begin at 7 p.m. and Sunday’s service will start at 10 a.m. The church will resume Wednesday night mid-week services at 6:30 p.m. April 10.

    Annual Good Friday bake sale
    TELL CITY – The United Pentecostal Church will hold its annual bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in front of Wal-Mart in Tell City.
    Pies, cakes, cupcakes, cookies, bunny cakes, fudge, peanut butter balls, hard boiled colored eggs will be among the items for sale.

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Church of Christ would like to invite the community to come to its annual Easter sunrise service at 6 a.m.

    Tell City UMC announces Easter services
    TELL CITY – Easter worship services at Tell City First United Methodist Church have been set.
    Services will be held at 8 and 10:15 a.m. with a breakfast at 9 a.m. in the church social hall. These special times will enable families to worship together at a time that works best for them. A nursery will be provided. A handicap lift is also available.

    ST. MEINRAD – The Holy Week and Easter schedule for Saint Meinrad Archabbey in St. Meinrad has been set. The public is invited to join the Benedictine monks for these services in the Archabbey Church. All times are central.
    Palm Sunday, March 24, 9:15 a.m., Blessing and procession with palms, followed by Mass; 5 p.m., Vespers
    Holy Thursday, March 28, 5 p.m., Mass of the Lord’s Supper; no Vespers
    Good Friday, March 29, 3 p.m., Liturgy of the Passion and Death of the Lord; no Vespers

    Cannelton First Baptist movie showing Sunday
    CANNELTON – The First Baptist Church of Cannelton would like to invite the public to a viewing of “The Passion of the Christ” at 5 p.m. Sunday. Light refreshments will be provided.
    The viewing will be in the Cotton Mill Community Room. Enter through the Adams St. entrance.

    Little Pigeon to hold gospel sing Saturday
    LAMAR – Little Pigeon Baptist Church, located two-tenths of a mile east of U.S. 231 on County Road 1250 N., will host a gospel sing Saturday at the church.

    Lent series for adults at local Catholic center
    TELL CITY – As those of the Catholic faith celebrate 50 years of Vatican, the Catholic Ministry Center in Tell City will welcome the Rev. Jeremy King, OSB, a Benedictine monk of St. Meinrad, for a Lent series for adults.
    The talks will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on four consecutive Thursdays beginning today at the ministry center.

    Cannelton First Baptist to show movie
    CANNELTON – The First Baptist Church in Cannelton invites the public to attend a showing of “Paul the Apostle,” a documentary on Paul’s teachings to help better understand the life of Paul. The event will be held at 4 p.m.  Feb. 24, at the First Baptist Church, 325 South Fourth St., in Cannelton. The movie is approximately three hours long and light refreshments will be served.
    Everyone is encouraged to attend.
