  • First United Methodist, St. Paul joint vacation Bible school June 24 - 27

    TELL CITY – First United Methodist Church, 10th and Mozart streets, and St. Paul Catholic Church, Ninth and Jefferson streets, are gearing up for a “Son West Roundup” vacation Bible school June 24  through June 27.
    Children 4 to 5 year olds and kindergartners attend can attend vacation Bible school at the Methodist church from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. Students in first through fourth grade will attend activities held at St. Paul Church from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

    Guest speakers, singers at Freewill Baptist
    CANNELTON – Brother Steve and Bonita Epley of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, will be guest speakers and singers at the Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church Sunday service.
    Pastor Lewis Garrett and the congregation welcome everyone to join.

  • Bristow Christian welcomes new minister, deacon

    Bristow Christian Church’s congregation welcomed Brother Bill Grieser to the church May 5. Brother Jack Wilson of Anderson Valley Christian Church ordained him.

    Church member Garry Brown was also ordained as a deacon during the Sunday church services. Along with Wilson, Brother Al Madden was in charge of the services. Church elders Wayne Sturgeon and Clarence VanWinkle also assisted. Members celebrated with a dinner following worship.

  • Two monks celebrate anniversaries

    SAINT MEINRAD – The Benedictine monks at Saint Meinrad Archabbey celebrated the 25-year jubilee of priesthood ordination for the Rev. Julian Peters OSB, and the 70-year jubilee of priesthood ordination and 75-year jubilee of monastic profession for resigned Archabbot Bonaventure Knaebel OSB, May 26.

    Peters is a native of Toledo, Ohio, where he attended St. Francis de Sales High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Saint Meinrad College in 1982 and entered the monastery that year.

    Bristow United Pentecostal homecoming
    BRISTOW – The 60th homecoming for the Bristow United Pentecostal Church will be June 9.
    This will also be the 20th Pastoral Anniversary for Pastor and Mrs. Clarence Enmen Jr.
    Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. with a pot-luck dinner at 11:45 a.m. A special service and singing will follow the dinner.
    The Rev. Gary Ellis of Clarksville, Tenn., will be the speaker at both services.

    St. Meinrad and St. Boniface parishes recently celebrated the first communions of several young members.

    Bible school at New Hope Baptist
    NEWTONVILLE – Area children are invited to New Hope Baptist’s summer vacation Bible school, “Colossal Coaster World,” June 10 through June 13.
    Activities will be held each evening from 6 to 8:15 p.m. at the church, 6511 E. Indiana 70 in Newtonville.
