  • Monk to display ceramic art Archabbey Library

    ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery in St. Meinrad will host an exhibit of recently completed ceramic works by Brother Martin Erspamer, OSB until June 8.

    Martin has been a monk of Saint Meinrad Archabbey since 2005. He was a member of a Marianist community in Saint Louis, Mo., from 1971 until joining the monastery at Saint Meinrad.

    Benefit sing set for Friday
    NEWTONVILLE – The Newtonville Church of Jesus Christ cordially invites everyone to join them in helping friends in need.
    John and Wanda Stark were blessed in recovery after his open-heart surgery this past winter. Now it is the church’s hope to help them with medical expenses.
    Many singers will attend and the church hopes Spencer and Perry County residents will provide their talents as well.

  • Our Father’s House of Worship launches seven-week Bible study program

    TROY – Our Father’s House of Worship LLC in Troy announces a new seven-week video-based Bible study series that explores what it could be like in heaven. The series is hosted via DVD by Don Piper, author of the New York Times bestseller “90 Minutes in Heaven,” which has sold more than 3.5 million copies.

  • Annual May Monte Cassino pilgrimages begin Sunday

    ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey’s pilgrimages to honor the Blessed Mother at the Monte Cassino Shrine have been scheduled for the Sundays in May.
    The pilgrimages begin with an opening hymn and a short sermon, followed by a rosary procession. The service ends with the Litany of the Blessed Virgin and a hymn.
    Speakers and topics for the pilgrimages are:
    •  Sunday – Brother Philipp Steiner OSB, “Living in the House of Mary”
    • May 12 – The Rev.  Joseph Cox OSB, “Mary, Our Mother”

  • St. Marks Catholic Church first communion

    First communion was celebrated April 14, at St. Marks Catholic Church in rural Tell City.

    Ministry kick off cook out Saturday
    TROY – Thy Kingdom Come Ministry, an outreach ministry, will host a kick off cook out from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Indiana 66 and Indiana 545 at the stop light in Troy.
    Everyone is invited for hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks and to learn about the new ministry.

    Cannelton Freewill Baptist homecoming weekend
    CANNELTON – The Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church will celebrate 49 years with a homecoming weekend Saturday and Sunday.

    Spring conference today at Deer Creek
    TELL CITY – Deer Creek Baptist Church in Tell City will host the American Baptist Women’s Spring conference today at the church.
    Registration and breakfast will be at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will follow at 10 a.m.

    ST. MEINRAD – Eight seminarians studying at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology received the order of deacon April 6 from the Most Rev. Joseph Tobin, archbishop of Indianapolis.

    Public invited to sing-a-long with Cannelton  UMC
    CANNELTON – Be ready to clap your hands and tap your feet with the congregation of Cannelton United Methodist Church during a sing-a-long at 3 p.m. April 21 at the church, Third and Taylor streets.
    The church will offer choral selections and there will be plenty of time to sing favorite hymns.
    Friends and family are welcome and those attending are asked to take a covered dish to share in a light supper after.

    Pannell, Taylor to appear at Our Father’s House of Worship
    TROY – Brother Roy Pannell with Outreach Ministry-The Way in Loogootee will give a spiritual message and Sister Cheri Taylor, a gospel singer from Lamar, will sing for the congregation today at Our Father’s House of Worship, LLC at 630 Walnut Street in Troy.
    Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the service will begin at 6 p.m.
