    Open Bible study starts Tuesday
    CANNELTON – First Baptist Church of Cannelton will host non-denominational Bible study in three locations throughout Cannelton during the month of August. All meetings start at 6:30 p.m.
    The first meeting will be Aug. 6 in the Cotton Mill Community Room, which can be accessed through the Adams Street entrance. The meeting Aug. 20 will be at the Cando Apartments Community Room and a meeting Aug. 27 will be in the kitchen at the Golden Years Apartments.

  • St. Boniface picnic Sunday in Fulda

    FULDA – St. Boniface Catholic Church will host its annual picnic Aug. 4 on the church grounds.
    Chicken and beef dinners will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the air-conditioned dinning hall.
    Sandwiches, bingo, family games, ice cream and quilts will be available during the day. A country kitchen and grand raffle will also be set up.
    Everyone is invited to attend.

    Lilly Dale to host revival starts Sunday
    GATCHEL – Lilly Dale Church of Christ in Gatchel will hold its annual revival Aug. 4 through Aug. 7.
    Nick Marsh from Cherry Street Church of Christ in New Albany will be the guest speaker.
    Marsh will bring the message Sunday at 10 a.m. with a pitch in homecoming dinner following the service.
    He will also bring the message each day at 7 p.m. during the revival. There will be special singing each evening.

  • Six Ferdinand Benedictines to celebrate golden jubilees

    FERDINAND – Six sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their profession of monastic vows Aug. 24, at Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand.

    The jubilee Mass will be at 1 p.m. EDT in the monastery church. A reception for family and friends will follow in St. Gertrude Hall in the monastery.
    The jubilarians, Sisters Dorothy Graf, Mary Judith Fleig, Elnora Shidler, Mary Ann Verkamp, Anna Marie Brosmer and Mary Philip Berger, professed their monastic vows in 1963. They entered the Ferdinand monastery in 1961.

    TELL CITY – Evangelical United Church of Christ’s vacation Bible school will continue today and tomorrow at the church.

  • St. Boniface Catholic Church picnic Aug. 4

    FULDA – St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda, a member of the National Registry of Historical Churches, is hosting its annual summer picnic Aug. 4.
    Festivities begin at 10 a.m. with fried chicken and roast-beef dinners with all the trimmings and dessert served in the air-conditioned dining rooms until 2 p.m. Carry-outs will also be available. Fulda’s “famous” soup will be sold by the bowl or bulk, as well as hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fried-chicken and tenderloin sandwiches, ice cream and drinks.

    Guest speaker at Freewill Baptist
    CANNELTON – Brother Samuel Epley, pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church in Bedford, Ky., will be guest speaker at Cannelton Free-will Baptist Church Sunday during morning and evening worship services.
    Pastor Lewis Garrett and congregation welcome everyone to attend.

    Annual summer picnic at St. John’s UCC
    LAMAR – St. John’s United Church of Christ will hold its annual summer picnic at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.

  • First Baptist VBS starts Tuesday

    ST. MEINRAD – First Baptist Church of St. Meinrad, 12913 E. Main St., will begin its summer vacation Bible school Tuesday and end Friday. Each day’s activities will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
    A celebration will be at 6 p.m. Sunday. Children will be encouraged to seek the king of kings and his righteousness, organizers said.

  • Weekend VBS at First Church of the Nazarene

    TELL CITY – Tell City First Church of the Nazarene will host a weekend vacation Bible school, “Hay Day—Growing in Friendship with Jesus,” from July 19 through July 21 at the church.  
    This VBS is filled with incredible Bible-learning experiences where kids will see, hear and touch. Team-building games, Bible songs and multi-sensory Bible adventures are just a few of the activities that participating kids will enjoy, organizers said.

    SPENCER COUNTY – Missionary Jimmy Rose will speak at Light of the World Baptist Church in Midway at 7 p.m. today through Saturday.
    At 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, Pastor Hagan of Light of the World Baptist Church will speak. All are invited to attend.
