    Little Pigeon Baptist gospel sing April 9

     

    CHRISNEY – Little Pigeon Baptist Church will hold a gospel sing April 9. The guest singers will be the Judith Montgomery Family.

    Guests are asked to take a covered dish. The meal will begin at 6 p.m. and singing will begin at 7 p.m. All are welcome.

  • Archabbey will offer confession times during Easter season

    ST. MEINRAD – Opportunities for the sacrament of reconciliation will be available at Saint Meinrad Archabbey Saturdays and Sundays during the Easter season.

    Confession will be available at the chapel in the Archabbey Guest House on these days:

    Saturdays, April 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30; May 7 and 14, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

    Sundays April 3, 10, 17 and 24; May 1, 8 and 15, 8:15 to 9:15 a.m.

    The opportunities for confession are part of the observance of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, as designated by Pope Francis.

    First United Methodist Easter Egg hunt Saturday at Schergens Center

    TELL CITY – Tell City First United Methodist Church will host its sixth annual Easter egg hunt Saturday, March 26, at 10 a.m., at the Schergens Center. Hot dogs, chips, drinks and desserts will be available for a free-will offering and all donations will go to a United Methodist Youth Home in Evansville. This event is for all children and families in the community as well as the county as a whole.

    Holy Week service schedule EUCC

    TELL CITY – Evangelical United Church of Christ will hold four special services to celebrate Holy Week.

    A Palm Sunday Service will be held March 20, at 10 a.m. in fellowship hall. A Maundy Thursday Service will be held Thursday, March 24, in the sanctuary at 7 p.m.

     

    Good Friday service will take place in the sanctuary March 25, at 7 p.m.

  • Holy Week, Easter schedule set for Saint Meinrad

    ST. MEINRAD – The Holy Week and Easter schedule for Saint Meinrad Archabbey has been set. The public is invited to join the Benedictine monks for these services in the Archabbey Church. All times are Central time.

    • Palm Sunday, March 20, 9:15 a.m., blessing and procession with palms, followed by Mass; 5 p.m.         Vespers

     • Holy Thursday, March 24, 5 p.m. Mass of the Lord’s Supper; no Vespers

  • Cannelton American Legion Easter Egg hunt March 26

    CANNELTON – The Cannelton American Legion family will sponsor its annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, March 26, at 1 p.m. at Legion Field in Cannelton. The event will happen rain or shine. The event is for Cannelton Elementary students up to 10 years old.

    The age categories are 0 to 2, 3 to 4, 5 to 7 and 8 to 10. Prizes, candy and a top prize of a new bicycle for each of the four categories will be awarded. There will be a special appearance by the Easter bunny.

    Guests are encouraged to take cameras and participants must take their own containers.

  • West Point Baptist youth group sponsoring community yard sale

    HAWESVILLE, Ky. – The West Point Baptist Church Youth Group will sponsor a Community Yard Sale April 22 and 23, at the Hancock County Fair Grounds, in Hawesville, Ky., rain or shine. Organizers would like to invite anyone who would like a booth to set up and sell your used items.

    Booth rental inside is $10 per day and outside is $5 per day. Craft vendors are also welcome. Craft vendors will need to have an annual business license for Hancock County, which is a $10.00 charge.

  • Lenten cantata to be performed March 14 at Saint Meinrad

    ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology will present a Lenten cantata on Monday, March 14, in the school’s St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel.

    The service, titled “Song of the Shadows,” features music by Joseph M. Martin performed by the Saint Meinrad community. The event begins at 7 p.m. Central time; it is free and open to the public.

    Parking is available in the Guest House and student parking lots.

  • Sisters to host Notre Dame Handbell and Celebration choirs

    FERDINAND – A concert by the Notre Dame Handbell and Celebration Choirs will be held in St. Gertrude Hall at Monastery Immaculate Conception on Wednesday, March 9, at 10 a.m. Eastern time.

    The monastery of the Sisters of St. Benedict is located at 802 E. 10th St. in Ferdinand.

    The theme of the free concert is “Celebrating the Jubilee Year of Mercy through Song and the Words of Pope Francis.”
