  • St. Paul annual dinner, raffle and auction to be held June 10

    TELL CITY – St. Paul Catholic Church will hold Mass Saturday, June 10, at 4 p.m. Dinner, raffle and auction to follow in Parish Hall. There $6,000 in cash to give away, with 12 $500 winners.

  • St. Mark Church hosting Rogation Mass, procession Tuesday

    ST. MARKS – St. Mark Catholic Church will host a Rogation Day Mass and Procession on Tuesday, May 23, at 6:30 p.m. Rogation days are an ancient tradition in which the community comes together to pray for the needs of the church, the community and for local farms and farmers and gardeners during the spring planting. They occur on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before Ascension Thursday.

  • Sisters to hold summer social June 2-3

    FERDINAND – The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, will hold their 150th anniversary summer social on Friday and Saturday, June 2 and 3, on the grounds of Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, Indiana.

    Social hours will be from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.

  • First Monte Cassino pilgrimage of 2017 set for Sunday

    ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey’s pilgrimages to honor the Blessed Mother at the Monte Cassino Shrine have been scheduled for the Sundays in May.

    The pilgrimages begin with an opening hymn and a short sermon, followed by a rosary procession. The service ends with the Litany of the Blessed Virgin and a hymn. Speakers and topics for the pilgrimages are:

    • May 14, Father Joseph Cox OSB, Mary, Our Mother

    • May 21, Father Barnabas Gillespie OSB, Holy Lady, Chosen by the Father

  • Sisters 150-year color run June 3

    FERDINAND – The Sisters of St. Benedict will host a color run on Saturday, June 3, as part of the their 150th anniversary. The run will begin at 8:30 a.m.  with registration tables located at Kordes Hall. The entry fee for those who preregister by May 31 is $35, which includes a T-shirt. Participants not wanting a T-shirt can enter for $25. Race-day registration is $40.

    This is a color run so participants should come prepared to be dusted with safe, non-toxic colored powder.

  • Chestnut Grove to host speaker

    TELL CITY – Chestnut Grove Church will host a special speaker from Palestine, W. Va., evangelist singer The Rev. Jerry Cattrell.

    Starting Thursday, May 11, through May 14 each night at 7 p.m. except Sunday night at 6 p.m.

    St. John’s bake sale begins Thursday

     

    EVANSTON – The board of education at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evanston will sponsor the annual spring rummage and bake sale May 4-6. Hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 7 a.m. to noon Saturday. Lots of baked goods, clothes and miscellaneous items will be available.

    Organizers will also be serve soup and sandwiches. The church is located at 12308 E. County Road 1160 N. in Evanston.
