    ST. MEINRAD – A new book, “Conversations in the Abbey, Volume 2: The Next Generation of Senior Monks of Saint Meinrad Reflect on Their Lives,” features in-depth interviews with 11 monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey, St. Meinrad.

  • Three churches team up for VBS

    TELL CITY – Evangelical United Church of Christ, Tell City United Methodist Church and St. Paul Catholic Church have scheduled a cooperative vacation Bible school for the week of June 27-30.

    Four, five and six year olds who have completed kindergarten will attend VBS at the United Methodist Church at 10th and Mozart streets from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m., while those students who have completed Grades 1-4 will attend at St. Paul Catholic Church at Main and Jefferson Streets from 9 to 11:30 a.m., with craft, game and snack centers stationed at EUCC during mid-mornings.

    ST. MEINRAD – A new book, “Conversations in the Abbey, Volume 2: The Next Generation of Senior Monks of Saint Meinrad Reflects on Their Lives,” features in-depth interviews with 11 monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey.

  • Youth choirs to perform at Saint Meinrad

    ST. MEINRAD – Two youth choirs will perform concerts in June in the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Church, St. Meinrad.

    The Crossroads Youth Choir from Bartlett (Tenn.) United Methodist Church will present a free concert on Thursday, June 9, at 7:30 p.m.

    The Crossroads Youth Choir is comprised of teens in seventh through 12th grades who sing together each Sunday. They offer their music in worship and ministry in their home church as well as other churches, chapels and hospitals throughout the United States, with an annual musical and tour.

    Amid the prayers and support of parishioners, the long process of renovating one of Perry County’s most historic and beautiful churches has wrapped up

    The Rev. Brian Esarey said work on St. Augustine Church in Leopold concluded in May. The project cost about $220,000 and began in 2009 with work on the church’s stone exterior and roof. Renovation then moved inside and ended in May with installation of a new sound system.

  • Saint Meinrad monks elect new archabbot

    ST. MEINRAD ­– The Right Rev. Kurt Stasiak OSB was elected archabbot of Saint Meinrad Archabbey by the Benedictine monks of the community on June 2.

    He becomes the 10th abbot and seventh archabbot in the community’s 162-year history, succeeding Archabbot Justin DuVall OSB, who announced in January that he would resign the position upon the new abbot’s election. He had served as abbot since Dec. 31, 2004.
