  • St. Michael Church’s raffle winners

    CANNELTON – St. Michael Church would like to announce winners of its annual turkey bingo raffle held Sunday, Nov. 19. A special thanks to everyone who donated raffle prizes and purchased tickets. This is the church’s main fundraiser for the year and parishioners appreciate all support.

  • Gospel singer Cheri Taylor Christmas concert Dec. 9

    SANTA CLAUS – Everyone is cordially invited to enjoy a special night of Christmas music with Cheri Taylor, Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Mount Zion Christian Church in Santa Claus.

    The church is located approximately one mile southeast of Holiday World on Old State Road 245. Turn west off the new State Road 245 onto old State Road 245 and follow the road up to the little white church on the hill.

    Taylor is a local lady well known  her beautiful gospel singing and witness.

  • Advent penance service, Christmas and New Year Mass schedules

    Historic St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda, and St. Meinrad Catholic Church announce Advent Penance Service, Christmas and new Mass times.

    Wednesday, Dec. 6 – 6:30 p.m., Advent Parish Penance Service; St. Meinrad Catholic Church

    Sunday, Dec. 24 – 3:30 p.m., Mass for the Nativity of the Lord, St. Meinrad Catholic Church; 10 p.m., Mass for the Nativity of the Lord, St. Meinrad Catholic Church

    Monday, Dec. 25 – Midnight, Mass of the Nativity of the Lord (Midnight Mass), Historic St. Boniface Catholic Church

    Christmas can be a painful time for some. It may be the first Christmas without a loved family member who has recently passed or it may be a time that has always been difficult.

    Lutheran bazaar Saturday

     

    EVANSTON – The annual Christmas Bazaar at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Evanston, located one-half mile west of New Boston, is scheduled for Saturday Dec. 2, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    Homemade candy, apple dumplings, cheeseballs, and turnip slaw will be available, as well as baked goods, including springerles. From 6 to 9 a.m., breakfast will be served. Lunch will be served from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

     

  • Public invited to Archabbey Masses

    ST. MEINRAD – The public is welcome to join the Benedictine monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey as they celebrate Christmas in the Archabbey Church. All times are Central.

    On Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24, vigils will begin at 7 p.m. and Mass will be celebrated at 10 p.m.

    The Mass of Christmas Day will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 25.

  • GriefShare holidays seminar scheduled

    SANTA CLAUS – GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays is a helpful, encouraging seminar for people facing the holidays after a loved one’s death. Please join us on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m. CST, or Sunday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at Santa Claus United Methodist Church.

    The seminar features video interviews with counselors, grief experts, and other people who have experienced the holidays after their loved one’s death and who offer practical suggestions and reassurance. These people share honestly about:

  • Service of the Longest Night set for Dec. 16

    ST. MEINRAD – Abbey Caskets, a work of Saint Meinrad Archabbey, will host a Service of the Longest Night on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 6 p.m. in the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Guest House Chapel.

    Many people find the holidays a challenging time. Instead of celebrating, they are struggling with grief. They miss loved ones and find that the usual traditions and bright lights serve only to heighten their struggle.

    Fr. Adrian Burke, OSB, will lead the service with prayer and Scripture that acknowledge those who mourn and struggle with loss during the Christmas season.

  • EUCC Women’s Guild salad luncheon Dec. 7

    TELL CITY – The Women’s Guild of Tell City Evangelical United Church of Christ will hold its annual Christmas salad luncheon on Thursday, Dec. 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church’s Fellowship Hall at 10th and Jefferson streets. In addition to more than 40 different salads, there will be chicken casserole, hot rolls, drinks and a choice of homemade Christmas cookies. Cost is $8 per person and carry-outs will be available.   • Remembrance and hope candlelight service Dec. 2

    TELL CITY – The Day By Day Grief support group will host its annual remembrance and hope candlelight service on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. The holiday season is supposed to be a time of joy and celebration but for those of us who are suffering from grief it can be the most difficult time of the year. Grief is an ongoing journey.

    It doesn't end after a few weeks, months or even a few years.
