• Raphael and Vivian DuPont

    Raphael and Vivian DuPont of Tell City will celebrate their 74th anniversary Sunday, June 7, 2015, with a family dinner.

    Raphael and the former Vivian Howell were married June 7, 1941, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Leopold.

    They are the parents of Douglas DuPont of Sebring, Fla.; Mary Carparelli of Helena, Mont.; Janice Etienne of Leopold and Jim, Mike and Daniel DuPont of Tell City and the late Christopher DuPont. They have 25 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

  • Gordon and Frances Taylor

    Gordon and Frances Taylor of Bristow will celebrate their golden anniversary with an open house beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the Bristow Community Center.

    Mr. Taylor and the former Frances Seibert were married May 8, 1965, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bristow.

    The couple has three children, Gregory Taylor of Birdseye and Darrell Taylor and Sheila Borden, both of Troy.

    They have eight grandchildren.

    Gordon retired from Perry Central Community School and Frances retired from General Electric.

  • J.R. and Beverly Dowell

    J.R. and Beverly Dowell will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, Feb. 20. The couple was married Feb. 20, 1965, at Cloverport Wesleyan Church in Cloverport, Ky.

    They have two children, Lisa (Chris) Jordan and Kimberly (Tim) Harper. They have four grandchildren, Tara, Tyler, Jackie and Jake, and five great-grandchilden, Addison, Emma, Bailey, Hayden and Liam.
    The couple plans to celebrate with a trip to South Dakota in August.


    Mr. and Mrs. Murray Pride celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014. Mr. Pride and the former Sara Albright were married in Clarksville, Tenn., Dec. 28, 1964.
    Mr. Pride served the Tell City-Troy Township School Corp. for 23 years as a teacher, coach and administrator. He is a retired superintendent of North Putnum and Eminence School Corps.
    Mr. and Mrs. Pride both taught in Union County, Ky., before moving to Tell City in 1969.

  • Gerald and Barbara Yackle

    Gerald and Barbara Yackle of Tell City will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at The Depot in Tell City.

    Gerald and the former Barbara Sims were married Jan. 25, 1975.

    They have a son, Jeremy Yackle of Corydon; a daughter, Julie Holtzman of Tell City, and two grandchildren.

    Gerald retired from Alcoa and Barb is employed at County-wide Animal Clinic.

    All friends and relatives are invited to attend the open house. The couple requests no gifts.

  • Norman and Verna Freeman

    Mr. and Mrs. Norman Freeman of Tell City celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Sunday, Dec. 28, with a gathering in their honor hosted by their son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Linda Freeman, at the Patio Steak House.

    Norman Freeman and Verna Catherine Kieser were married Dec. 28, 1944, at St. Paul Catholic Church. Attendants were Jeanie (Braun) Sabelhaus, the late Helen (Franks) Hilgenhold, the late Bob Eger and the late Ralph Alvey.

  • Daniel Hayden and Jane Efinger-Hayden

    Daniel Ryan Hayden and Jane Marie Efinger-Hayden of Troy are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary with a weeklong trip to Savannah, Ga., where they spent their honeymoon.

    Dan and the former Jane Efinger were married Dec. 23, 1989, by proxy via telephone by Tell City Mayor Bill Goffinet while Dan was stationed in Korea. A church ceremony and reception were held March 24, 1990, after Dan returned from his tour of duty.

  • Charles and Barbara Beard renew vows

    Charles “Dusty” and Barbara Beard of Cannelton reaffirmed their marriage vows during a convalidation ceremony Oct. 18, 2014, at St. Michael Catholic Church. The private ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Sengole T. Gnanaraj.

    Following the ceremony, a small reception was held at The Patio Steak House.

    Mr. Beard and the former Barbara Bryant were united in marriage Oct. 18, 1997, at United Methodist Church in Tell City.

  • Wes and Jayme Deom

    Wes and Jayme Deom of Tell City celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary by attending a ballgame at the Great American Ball Park stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio. The ballpark was a stop on the couple’s honeymoon.

    Wes and the former Jayme Poehlein were married in June 2004, in Tennessee. They have three children, Avery, 9; Easton, 3, and Archer, 1.

    Wes has been employed at Webb Wheel for more than seven years. Jayme is a licensed practical nurse by profession and currently is a stay-at-home mom.

  • Charles and Mary Alice Ruxer

    Charles and Mary Alice Ruxer will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary at a 10:30 a.m. Thanksgiving Day Mass offered by the Rev. Anthony Vinson in the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Guest House Chapel.

    Charles Ruxer and the former Mary Alice Ringeman were married Nov. 11, 1944, in the Saint Meinrad Abbey church. Attendants were Othmar Ringeman, Lee Edgar Ruxer, Angela Ruxer Volz and Thelma Scott Copeland.

    Mr. and Mrs. Ruxer are the parents of Terry Ruxer, Karen Ruxer Springston and Mark Ruxer. They have nine grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
