  • Lewis and Glenna Carrett

    The Rev. Lewis “Clettes” Garrett and Glenna (Taylor) Garrett of Hawesville, Ky., formerly of Fentress County, Tenn. will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary Nov. 17.

    They were married in Jamestown, Tenn. Nov. 17, 1951, by the late Brother Willie F. Wright.

    Rev. Garrett organized Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church in December 1963 and has been the pastor for 53 consecutive years. Pastor Garrett never accepted a salary. He also worked at public works. He retired from National Southwire Aluminum in January 1991.

  • Kathy and David Hammond

    Kathy and David Hammond were surprised with an early 50th wedding anniversary party at Blue Heron Winery. The party was given by their children, Amy and Geoff Layman of Granger, Todd and Jaime Hammond and Kurt and Lori Hammond, all of Tell City. The couple have eight grandchildren.

    Hammond and the former Kathy Kleeman were married on Nov. 4, 1966 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church.

    Kathy is the daughter of the late Velma and Louis Kleeman. David is the son of Corlean Hammond and the late Richard Hammond of Owensboro, Ky.

  • Nelda and Richard Waninger

    Richard and Nelda Waninger celebrated their 60th anniversary Oct. 20. They were married Oct. 20, 1956, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church near Magnet.

    They are the parents of Lorna Rogers, Myra (Bill) Cummins, Mark (Karen) Waninger and Linda (Don) Gengelbach. They have 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

    Richard retired from carpentry and farming.

    Nelda retired from Branchville Correctional facility.

  • Kathy and David Hammond

  • Kim and Scott Franchville

    Scott and Kim Franchville celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Sept. 7, 2016, spending a week in Destin, Fla., and then were honored with another celebration Sept. 17, by their children at Rome campground.

    They have three sons, Ryan (Ariel) and Evan Franchville of Derby and Tyler Franchville of Sulphur.

    Scott is employed at Waupaca Foundry as a foreman in the melt department and Kim is a childcare provider.

    Scott is the son of Peggy Franchville and the late Randy Franchville of Bristow.

  • Mary and Gordie Aders

    Mary and Gordie Aders will celebrate 50 years of marriage Sept. 3, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Depot. The event will be hosted their daughters Gloria Whitlock and Kathy Brenton.

    They were originally married Oct. 1, 1966.

    Their four children are Gloria (Dan) Whitlock, of Roswell, Ga., Kathy Brenton of Brownsburg, the late LeRoy Aders and the late Dawn Zoglman.  They have 13 grandchildren and six surrogate grandchildren.

    They are both retired from General Electric.

    They ask for no gifts, but the presence of family and friends.

  • Kathleen and James Ebert

    James and Kathleen Ebert of St. Meinrad will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, Aug. 19 with a private gathering. James Ebert and the former Kathleen Seng were married Aug. 19, 1966, in St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois with Fr. Raymond Schroering officiating.

    The Eberts are the parents of four children: Julie (Ebert) Becher of Mariah Hill, Jeff Ebert of St. Meinrad, Jill Ebert-Lasher of Evanston and Kim Ebert-Zink of Raleigh, N.C. They have 11 grandchildren.

  • Jean and Jack Boyce

    Jack and Jean (Franchville) Boyce, of Shelbyville, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary July 30.


  • Peirce-Hedinger

    Jeri Brianne Peirce and James Hedinger of Tell City announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Elaine Peirce and the late James Peirce of Tell City. The future groom is the son of Sherrie and Charlie Davis and the late Todd Hedinger of Cannelton.

    The ceremony will take place on Aug. 20, 2016, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Cannelton at 2 p.m. The reception will follow, at the 4-H Fairgrounds.

  • Janet and Jack Mulder

    Janet and Jack Mulder of Tell City celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary June 3. They were married June 3, 1956, at Mt. Lebanon Church in Sharpsville.

    They have four children, Anita Baker of Tell City, Melvin Mulder of San Antonio, Texas, Susan Mulder of Evansville and Angela Rust of Tell City. They have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
