  • Bryant named director of reliability at Domtar

    HAWESVILLE, Ky. – Larry Bryant has been named the director of reliability for the Domtar Paper Co.

    Bryant is a 29-year employee of the Domtar Hawesville Mill, working as the maintenance manager for the last 10 years. He and his wife, Terri, reside in Tell City. They have two children, Katelyn and Jacob.

  • Brown deploys on Navy aircraft carrier

    NORFOLK, Va. – Navy Seaman Recruit Jessica L. Brown, daughter of Patricia A. Johnson of French Lick and Kent A. Brown of Troy, along with other sailors assigned aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman arrived in the U.S. 5th Fleet’s area of responsibility after the ship completed a routine transit through the Suez Canal.
    Truman is on a scheduled deployment conducting maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts and support missions for Operation Enduring Freedom. Truman deployed July 22 from Norfolk.

  • Two Memorial Hospital nurses recognized for 20 years of certification

    JASPER – Martha Bickwermert, RN, BSN and CCRN, and Darlene Goepfrich, RN, CCRN and RCIS, of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center recently received national recognition for reaching a significant milestone in the nursing profession.

    Since 1993, they have consistently maintained critical care registered nurse certification offered through the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses Certification Corp. Bickwermert and Goepfrich are two of 1,489 CCRNs being honored this year by the corporation and the AACN for 20 years of continuous certification.

  • Daugherty becomes local consultant with Tastefully Simple

    TELL CITY – Valerie Daugherty of Tell City has become an independent consultant with Tastefully Simple Inc., a national direct sales company.
    As an independent business owner, Daugherty offers food samples at home taste-testing parties, along with ideas for everyday meals, recipes, serving suggestions and fun.
    All of Tastefully Simple’s products are open-and-enjoy or can be prepared by adding only one or two ingredients, according to a press release.

  • Seufert Construction expands engineering, design-build team

    FERDINAND – Seufert Construction has announced hiring of Andy Hagedorn as director of engineering and development. 

    Hagedorn, a native of Ferdinand, is a licensed professional engineer with previous experience working for INDOT and for the past seven years has served as director of facilities for Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.  
    Hagedorn will over-see the strategic  development and implementation of engineering, design and overall business growth initiatives for the company.

  • Jasper Engines Crawford County facility earns safety certification

    CRAWFORD COUNTY – The Indiana Department of Labor has announced the star certification of Jasper Engines and Transmissions’ Crawford County remanufacturing facility in Indiana’s Voluntary Protection Program.

    A ceremony held July 22 at the Crawford County facility provided an opportunity for associates, staff and management to showcase their exemplary safety status to state elected and labor officials.  

  • Rhodes named Teacher of The Year in Kentucky

    WARSAW, Ky. – Ivy Rhodes was named teacher of the year at Gallatin County Upper Elementary School in Warsaw.
    She has been the third-grade teacher at the school for the past seven years. Rhodes is a graduate of Tell City High School and the University of Southern Indiana. She earned her master’s degree from Northern Kentucky University.
    Rhodes is the daughter of Kevin Rhodes and Leisa Rhodes. She is the granddaughter of Mary Nell Rhodes and the late Lee Roy Rhodes and Glenn Meyer and the late Janet Meyer.

  • Midgett deploys with Naval unit

    TELL CITY – Ship’s Serviceman Steven K. Midgett is a part of the Security Recation Force on the USS Harry S. Truman. He deployed July 22 for nine months to the Mediterranean and is scheduled to come back sometime in April 2014.

    Midgett attended Tell City High School and graduated in 2011. He is a Ship Serviceman and has been recommended for early promotion to petty officer 3rd class due to his expert marksmanship.

  • Brown deploys with US Navy aircraft carrier

    NORFOLK, Va. – Navy Seaman Recruit Jessica L. Brown, daughter of Patricia A. Johnson of French Lick and Kent A. Brown of Troy, along with other sailors stationed aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, departed Naval Station Norfolk, marking the start of the ship’s eight- to nine-month deployment to the Arabian Gulf.

  • Mitchell earns First Responders Hero Award

    EVANSVILLE – Dave Mitchell of Schnellville was recently awarded the American Red Cross First Responders Hero Award during the Heroes Awards Banquet held in Evansville. This award honors local heroes that have gone above and beyond to help those in need across the community.
