  • Lambert graduates Marine basic training

    CANNELTON – Pvt. Jared M. Poehlein Lambert graduated from the United States Marine Corp. basic training Sept. 13.

    He earned his marksman medal and eagle, globe and anchor insignia. He is currently stationed at Camp LeJuene, N.C., for marine combat training. He graduated mid-October.

    Lambert is the son of Leisa Poehlein and the grandson of Mary Ann and Walter Lambert and the late Gordon and Birdine Poehlein. Leisa and Jared would like to thank all those who have kept them in prayers and for the support to attend his graduation.

  • Jarboe recognized for 10 years of service for K of C Insurance

    PERRY COUNTY – Tim Jarboe, a field agent for the Knights of Columbus Insurance – Clint Spaulding Agency, was recognized for his 10 years of service to the agency recently.

    His territory covers those southern Indiana councils including Tell City, Corydon, St. Meinrad, Santa Claus, Ferdinand and the newly established council in St. Anthony.

  • PCMH paramedics recognized for 20 years of service

    TELL CITY – Darrel Riley, John Kleeman and Pat Lambert, employed as paramedics with Perry County Memorial Hospital, were recently recognized by the board of directors of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians for achieving 20 consecutive years as nationally registered paramedics. This distinction is an honor held by few paramedics.
    To maintain status as a Nationally Registered Paramedic, they have completed, on a biennial basis, the most comprehensive certification program for emergency medical technicians and paramedics in America.

  • Mathena achieves renewal of Certified Diabetes Educator Status

    TELL CITY – The National Certification of Diabetes Educators announced that Linda Mathena, RN, ONC, CDE of Perry County Memorial Hospital, has renewed the Certified Diabetes Educator status by successfully completing the continuing education renewal option process.
    Candidates must meet rigorous eligibility requirements to be eligible for certification. Achieving the CDE credential demonstrates to people with diabetes and employers that the health care professional possesses distinct and specialized knowledge, thereby promoting quality of care for people with diabetes.

  • Brown completes Navy basic training in Illinois

    GREAT LAKES, Ill. – Joe Brown of Tell City graduated from Navy basic training Aug. 16 at the Great Lakes Naval Station in Great Lakes, Ill.

    He spent nine weeks training at the base and is now attending A School at Corry Station Naval Technical Training Center in Pensacola, Fla.
    Brown is a 2012 graduate of Perry Central High School.
    He is the son of Lisa Brown and Dewayne Brown, both of Tell City.

  • Lincoln Hills maintains Housing Developer Certification

    PERRY COUNTY – Lincoln Hills Development Corp. Executive Director Larry K. Kleeman announced that LHDC has recently been fully recertified as a Community Housing Development Organization through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. LHDC’s certification covers Crawford, Dubois, Harrison, Perry, and Spencer counties. Any nonprofit organization receiving IHCDA HOME-CHDO funding must be certified by IHCDA.

  • Mitchell completes Army basic training

    FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. – Pvt. Sean P. Mitchell graduated U.S. Army basic training Aug. 22 at Fort Leonard Wood.

    He is a 2013 graduate of Tell City High School and is currently training to become a combat medic at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. He expects to complete his advanced individual training in December.

    He is the son of Ralph Mitchell and Melissa Carter of Troy.

  • Hilgenhold completes Air Force basic cadet training in Colorado

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Air Force Cadet John Levi Hilgenhold has completed basic cadet training and earned the rank of cadet fourth class at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo.
    Hilgenhold completed the rigorous six-week orientation program. The training prepares cadets to enter their first academic year at the academy.

  • Bryant named director of reliability at Domtar

    HAWESVILLE, Ky. – Larry Bryant has been named the director of reliability for the Domtar Paper Co.

    Bryant is a 29-year employee of the Domtar Hawesville Mill, working as the maintenance manager for the last 10 years. He and his wife, Terri, reside in Tell City. They have two children, Katelyn and Jacob.

  • Brown deploys on Navy aircraft carrier

    NORFOLK, Va. – Navy Seaman Recruit Jessica L. Brown, daughter of Patricia A. Johnson of French Lick and Kent A. Brown of Troy, along with other sailors assigned aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman arrived in the U.S. 5th Fleet’s area of responsibility after the ship completed a routine transit through the Suez Canal.
    Truman is on a scheduled deployment conducting maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts and support missions for Operation Enduring Freedom. Truman deployed July 22 from Norfolk.
