• Perry Central Captains Club honors student academic achievements

    LEOPOLD – Perry Central Elementary uses Acuity and Dibels assessments to gauge student strengths and weaknesses in regards to grade-level standards and to help teachers guide classroom and individualized instruction.

    Using these assessment, along with comparing first quarter to second quarter report cards, the Perry Central Captains Club honored students who either raised scores or maintained a high level of performance, with a pizza party.

  • Ivy Tech announces dean’s list

    EVANSVILLE – Ivy Tech Community College Southwest recently recognized the following Perry County students for making the dean’s list for the 2014 fall semester.

    To be on the dean’s list, Ivy Tech students must achieve a minimum 3.5 grade-point average in non-academic skills advancement courses with no D’s or F’s, must have earned six or more credits during the semester and at least 12 non-academic skills advancement credits during their course of study.

  • BSU announces honor students for fall 2014

    MUNCIE – Ball State University has announced the names of students who graduated or were included on the dean’s list and graduate list during the fall 2014 semester.

    Earning dean’s list recognition were Brittany Overstreet from Perry County and Natalie Abell, Jayme Roos, Dana Schlachter and Kelly Weyer of Ferdinand.

  • Miller earns IU dean’s list honor

    NEW ALBANY – Reese Michael Miller of Tell City was recently named to Indiana University Southeast’s dean’s list for the fall 2014 semester. Miller is a 2014 graduate of Tell City High School. His goal is to double major in chemistry and biology and attend medical school. He is the son of Jeff and Michelle Miller of Tell City.

  • Science team standouts

    Perry Central Elementary School’s science team recently competed in a three-day online competition that earned members fourth place in their division and fifth overall in all divisions.

    The competition consisted of an individual component, during which four students answered 15 questions about an article they’d read; an experimental round with a panel of 10 members who answered questions about an experiment they’d carried out the previous week.

  • Perry Central Honor Rolls

    LEOPOLD – Additional sixth-grade students were submitted to the News after press time. Sixth-grade students earning second-quarter honorable mention include Breeana Noland, Clay Mitchell and Lauren Harpenau.

    Sixth-grade students earning first-semester honor roll include Lauren Harpenau and Stella Hubert. Receiving honorable mention were Chloe Collin and Clay Mitchell.

    PERRY COUNTY – Several undergraduate students of the University of Southern Indiana who hail from Perry County were recently recognized for their outstanding academic achievement.

  • Tell City’s Clayton earns Bellarmine dean’s list honor

    TELL CITY – James Greg Clayton of Tell City was recently named to Bellarmine University’s dean’s list for the fall 2014 semester. Placement on the list requires a semester grade-point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 academic scale.

    Clayton is double-majoring in criminal justice and sociology and plans to graduate in May.

    He is the son of Hugh Clayton and Kathy Clayton, both of Tell City.
