  • NRG Farms claims awards in Saddlebred Horse Association Convention

    TELL CITY – NRG Farm of Tell City received two Indiana 2011 High Point awards at the Indiana Saddlebred Horse Association Convention in Carmel Feb. 12.
    The Testament, shown by trainer Nancy Ress, won the Park Pleasure Driving Award and Championship Symphony, shown by Dr. Gene Ress, won in the Country Pleasure Driving Division.
    Dekarobics, owned and shown by Hannah Young in their first year of showing together, won two championships and two reserve championships.

  • Waninger named master truck driver

    NEW BOSTON – The Indiana Motor Truck Association has named Kent Wan-inger of New Boston a master truck driver. Waninger has been driving trucks for more than 26 years and has spent the last 14 years driving for Mulzer Crushed Stone in Tell City. During his driving career, he has successfully navigated more than a million miles without an accident.
    The IMTA awards the professional certification of master truck driver to drivers of commercial motor vehicles who meet high standards for educational achievement, professional conduct and accident-free driving.

  • Gogel earns membership award

    Albert J. Gogel Jr. of Mariah Hill was honored Jan. 30 with a 50-year Membership Certificate of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union Local 4 of Indiana and Kentucky.

    He received a certificate of outstanding achievement and a gold watch at the ceremony held in Evansville. Gogel began laying brick at the age of 25 and joined the union at the age of 29. He worked for Bartley and Perigo Masonry of Evansville until his retirement. He also served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.

  • Buswell Energy’s CEO to speak at Magnetics 2012

  • Champion completes Air Force basic training in San Antonio

    SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Air Force Airman Samuel J. Champion graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.
    Champion completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.
    Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

  • TC natives named to USI Varsity Club board

    EVANSVILLE – The University of Southern Indiana Varsity Club recently named its board of directors for the 2011-12 academic year.
    Of the 21-person board, three of the officers are Tell City natives. Donita (Cassidy) Wolf was named first vice chairwoman; Bob Werner took position as treasurer and Janet (Mills) Werner was named secretary.

  • Holman retires from Navy Reserve service

    TELL CITY – BV1 (SCW) James E. Holman retired from the Naval Reserve Aug. 1 after more than 21 years of service.

    Holman entered the Marine Corps Oct. 11, 1989. As a lance corporal, he served during Desert Shield-Desert Storm from December 1990 to April 1991. He left the Marine Corps as a corporal Oct. 10, 1995. He then joined the Army National Guard Jan. 19, 1996. He served for three years as a specialist and was discharged Jan. 18, 1999.

  • Little graduates basic training

    SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Air Force Airman 1st Class Patrick C. Little recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

    Little completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

    Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

    He is the son of Joane Little of Tell City.
