  • LHDC celebrates 50th anniversary and elects officers for 2015

    During the 50th annual meeting of Lincoln Hills Development Corp. held April 20 at the Schergens Center in Tell City, board officers were elected for 2015. 

    Clayton Jefford of Perry County was elected president, Steve Upmeyer of Perry County was elected vice president; Beth Stein of Spencer County was elected secretary and Joan Hess of Perry County was elected treasurer.

  • Clayton graduates with honors

    TELL CITY - James Greg Clayton has graduated from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky., with a double major in criminal justice and sociology.

    He earned magna cum laude honors and was placed on the dean’s list for the spring semester. Placement on this list requires a semester average of 3.5 or above.

    Clayton is the son of Hugh Clayton and Kathy Clayton, both of Tell City.

  • Hilgenhold makes superintendent’s list at Air Force Academy

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Cadet Third Class Levi Hilgenhold made the superintendent’s list for the fourth consecutive semester this spring at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Superintendent’s list is a combination of dean’s list, commandant’s list and athletic director’s list. In each of the three, a 3.0 must be attained.  He is an astronautical engineering major and currently ranks 8th out of 1,049 cadets in the class of 2017. 

  • Dr. Ress attends 55th IU reunion

    Following graduation, Dr. Ress interned at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville for one year. He then located his office in Tell City Aug. 1, 1961. He has practiced there ever since. Dr. Ress was the only reunion attendee who is still actively practicing medicine.

  • Evelyn Adams among 2015 Golden Hoosier Award recipients

    INDIANAPOLIS – A Perry County woman was one of this year’s recipients of the 2015 Golden Hoosier Awards.

    Evelyn Adams joined Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann; Dr. John Wernert, secretary of Indiana Family & Social Services Administration and Yonda Snyder, director of the FSSA’s Division of Aging, to announce and honor recipients of the 2015 Golden Hoosier Awards.

    Adams is a retired Purdue Extension educator who is active in the community in several areas.

  • Girl Scouts honors achievements of girl members in Perry County

    PERRY COUNTY – Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana recently announced a list of achievements and contributions of its members, including a number of girls in Perry County.

    Girl Scout bronze awards were earned by Emilie Cronin, Charlotte Entwistle, Claire Franzman, Anna Fuchs, Elena Hagedorn, Valerie Kehl, Bethany McCoy, Breanna Olberding, Natolie Reid, Hayley Wroe and Maddie Rogers.

  • Cannelton’s Kendall Hale is state finalist

    CANNELTON – Kendall Hale, 10, daughter of Jessica Hale of Cannelton, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Indiana pageant, to be held June 18-21 at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Indianapolis.

    The pageant is for girls ages 10 through 12. The winner of the pageant will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportation to competition the national pageant at Disneyland in California, which is held for girls ages four to 18 in five age groups.

  • 500 Festival Princess Wargel to present at fairgrounds May 14

    TELL CITY – Lily Wargel, 500 Festival Princess, will give a presentation Thursday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Perry County Fairgrounds. The talk will focus on how the 4-H program provided Wargel with the life skills to be successful in school, the 500 Festival Princess Program and in life.

    Lily is a graduate of Tell City High School and the 2010 Perry County 4-H Fair Queen. This event is free and open to the public.
